Yoder Update - February 2025

Looking back over the past several months we are reminded how much we need to cover the Christian World Outreach (CWO) leaders, staff and ministries with prayer. There are and have been health issues, safety concerns, travel mercies and just day to day needs. We appreciate all of you who pray on a regular basis.

There have been several health issues since November of last year. Alassane, our Burkina Faso leader, was admitted to the hospital with a respiratory infection. We are thankful that he was able to be treated and then went back to leading the ministries he oversees after a few days of rest. Joel and Marie both suffered from illness in January after serving the children in the Haiti Children’s Feeding Program, attending the Haiti Leadership Conference and other activities. Onias, the Zimbabwe ministry leader, flu symptoms started the day after beginning a three-day Leadership Seminar. God was good and provided another person to help with some sessions and by the second day Onias was able to participate. Most recently, Thembi Myeni was admitted into the hospital. Thembi went to the emergency room because her knee locked and while there, they found a heart issue.

Please pray that God will give good health to all those working with the CWO ministries in any capacity.

Safety has been a concern for all our staff especially in Burkina, Haiti and Sri Lanka. The attacks by extremists in Burkina have continue to be a concern. Those participating in the Mobile Clinic ministry have needed to restrict their travels to some places closer to the capital because of the violence. In Haiti the gangs still control much of the Port-au-Prince area so there are times the ministry there is disrupted. The Feminine Training Center has needed to cancel classes periodically and the Port-au-Prince church cannot hold any activities after the sun sets. Buddhist monks in Sri Lanka have tried different tactics to close a house church at the home of Gayan, one of the CWO ministry leaders, including approaching the owner of the house and possibly forcing him to stop renting to Gayan.

Please pray that God will protect His workers in Burkina, Haiti, South Africa, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe.

Much like safety, God’s protection while traveling is needed as the ministry leaders and staff go to places where they carry out ministry. Onias, the Zimbabwe ministry leader recently hit a cow while traveling to participate in a Leadership Conference. God was good and no one was hurt but the vehicle is no longer usable. The leaders and staff travel many miles to give medical care, attend leadership events, participate in camps and other ministry activities. The leaders’ and staff’s travels take them on some rough terrain and have many obstacles on the roads, like animals.

Please pray for God’s protection as the CWO leaders and staff travel.

We covet your prayers for us and for all those serving in the CWO ministries in Burkina Faso, Haiti, South Africa, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe. Prayers are much needed as we do the work God has led us to in these places.

Thank you for praying and for supporting financially.

Serving Together,

Greg and Laura
