Yoder Update - July 2025

The main goal of all the Christian World Outreach (CWO) ministries is to share the Gospel. Whether we are dealing with social, educational or physical needs, spiritual needs are the most important to us. Another way of saying this is to help people build a relationship with Jesus and with other believers as they grow in their faith. These relationships begin by the CWO staff building relationships with people where they are in their life.

As Alassane and Dina work with the young ladies at the Village of Opportunity VOO they accept them and love them no matter what their family background or beliefs. They treat them as if they are family which opens the door to introducing them to Jesus. The result is an example of how relationships have made a difference in one of the young ladies.

Ester was in grade 3 with Shelia, Alassane and Dina’s daughter. Ester had difficulty with her traditional school work which made Shelia very sad for her friend. Ester had some interest in vocational training so Shelia shared about the sewing class at the VOO that her parents ran. Ester told her mother about the VOO and the sewing class. When Alassane and Dina met with Ester’s mother they found that her father who had abandoned them still put pressure on her for school. Ester was admitted to the VOO and was able to graduate this year.

Shelia wrote this letter to Ester for graduation.

Ester my friend and sister, I am so proud of you for your resilient heart and your determination to succeed. I have been praying for you praying for you all along your training years and praying for the Lord to give you strength to complete your vocational training and today is your day. My heart is full of joy and I know you will be successful in your projects. You have shown evidence of your capacity and your faith to Jesus our Master. Take care and I will see you after your exam. God bless you and grant all of you with the national exam.

Ester is now a confident young woman who realizes that the Lord loves her and she is loved by her CWO family.

This year the CWO Haiti churches have been coming together for Harvest Feasts. In the past each church celebrated this event individually. A Harvest Feast is a time when churches celebrate the goodness of the Lord and show their thanksgiving to the Lord for the blessings received from the Lord over the past year. This has been a great time of members of the churches traveling to build relationships with each other and to encourage each other as they minister in their communities.

The encouragement the churches have given each other have had a great impact on people in their communities. People are responding to the Gospel as church members build relationships. Recently, the Ouanaminthe church celebrated its annual conference by walking to the river to baptize six new members of the church. The church in LaVictoire also celebrated the baptism of eleven people who are now part of the church.

One of the ministries of Single Moms Raising Sons (SMRS) is Men Around the Fire. This is a time for adult men who were raised by single moms can share how they were affected by being fatherless. Solami the son of Thembi, the co-founder of SMRS, oversees this ministry and has been himself greatly impacted by Men Around the Fire. The men come together building relationships sometimes sitting around a bonfire, having a barbeque and share their past and present hurts which has helped them heal emotionally. I had the opportunity to sit with Solami in South Africa by a fire as he shared how the relationships the men have built through Men Around the Fire have helped them grow in their faith.

Thank you for praying and for supporting financially.
