Having events for Christian World Outreach is great but it is not all fun and games! Sometimes, at the time of an event we provide for CWO, it can seem like it is all fun and games but there is a lot of work that goes on to make these events happen. If you have ever planned a big event, you know what we mean. We have already had two of our four events for 2021, and are working on plans for the next one. Our focus for these events is to update those who already know about the CWO ministries, introduce new people to CWO and to raise funds to support the ministries.

May 1 was our first women’s event called Women Helping Women. We had planned to have this event last year but, like most things, it was canceled. The Women Helping Women event was a Saturday morning brunch focusing on the CWO ministries for women. The Village of Opportunity in Burkina Faso, the Feminine Training Center in Haiti and the new Single Moms Raising Sons ministry were highlighted during the program. It was encouraging to have over 80 ladies, of which half were new to CWO, come hear about these ministries and to have many ask to receive monthly email updates and give financially.

The Making a Difference Golf Tournament was on June 21. After a week of temperatures in the 90’s and above, God provided a beautiful cooler day to have 86 golfers play a round of golf. This year we had the flags of Burkina Faso, Haiti, South Africa, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe at different holes on the golf course. Each hole had someone representing the country and as the foursomes came to tee off, they were asked a question about a ministry in that country. If they could answer the question (we allowed them to search the CWO website on their phones) they would receive a ticket for the prize drawing at lunch. This was a fun way to learn about the ministries for those new to CWO and those who were already connected in some way.

Get Movin’ for Missions is coming up Labor Day weekend. This event was formerly our 14er event held here in Colorado. Last year we expanded the event beyond the borders of Colorado by opening it up to not just climbing one of Colorado’s 14ers but to participate in any activity, anywhere. Last year we had people from Arkansas, California, Kentucky, Michigan and Colorado join in the event. We are making the final plans for this year’s event, and we would love to have you join in by hiking, biking, running, swimming or whatever activity you want to do. It is a great time to get your family, friends and others involved and a way to share about the CWO ministries.

The annual Making a Difference Banquet is scheduled for November 4. We have begun planning for this event and look forward to our 18th banquet where we will again celebrate what God has done through the ministries of CWO. You can go to cwomissions.org to get updates as plans develop for the banquet as well as all the CWO events. None of these events would happen if it were not for the CWO Event Committee, volunteers and staff that help plan and prepare for them. These people put in many hours of work and we are grateful for their willingness to serve and be a part of the CWO ministries in this way. If you would like to serve on the Event Committee, volunteer to help with any of these events or have ideas for new events, let us know. We would welcome the opportunity to serve beside you. Praise the Lord for: Those who serve on the Event Committee and volunteers who help with events. The over $21,000 raised through this year’s events. New prayer and financial partners who have been introduced to CWO through events.

Pray for: The planning of Get Movin’ for Missions and annual banquet. Wisdom as the Event Committee makes decisions and plans. Us as we share about the ministries of CWO at the events. The staff in all the countries as they continue to navigate the restrictions caused by COVID.
