One of the joys of ministering with Christian World Outreach (CWO) is meeting with ministry supporters and introducing people to the ministries of CWO. Sometimes this is done individually, and sometimes this is done with groups of people, like the annual Making a Difference Golf Tournament that was held on June 22. This event is a great way to introduce new people to the CWO ministries as well as raise funds to support the ministries.

We, along with a great group of volunteers, were able to plan for the golf tournament and on the day of the tournament, arrive early, 6:00 AM, to set up and be ready for golfers to arrive. Our Event Committee and Golf Advisory Group did a great job of planning and soliciting sponsors and prizes. While golfers played their round of golf, some volunteers were located at different holes throughout the golf course to represent the different countries where the CWO ministries are located.

Golfers had the opportunity to learn a little about the CWO ministries in Burkina Faso, Haiti, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and Zimbabwe by matching a card with the name of a ministry with a picture of the ministry. They then had their CWO golf scorecard stamped before teeing off at the hole. The score cards were turned in at lunch and used for the prize drawing. It was a fun way to remind or introduce golfers to the many ministries of CWO. Laura and I were able to serve together at hole 1, representing Single Moms Raising Sons in South Africa (SMRS) and CWO.

The event was also successful because of those who put together foursomes and brought new people to the event. This year, there were 21 foursomes that participated in the golf tournament. We are thankful for those who supported CWO in bringing other golfers so they could be introduced to CWO and the many ministries. 



We cannot forget the sponsors of the event. This year, we had an event sponsor, five hole sponsors, two breakfast sponsors, and FastSigns, our annual sign sponsor. These sponsorships fund CWO ministries that may need additional funding or to help expand ministry.  Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steak Burgers served frozen custard as golfers passed by hole 10. This may have been the golfers’ favorite hole.  

God gave us great weather for the day, a great group of volunteers, a great group of golfers, and a great time of sharing about the CWO ministries. We look forward to seeing how God uses this fun event.
