Yoder Update - May 2022
It has been a busy time for us as we plan and participate in the events this time of year. What a great time to visit with supporters face to face and meet new people that they bring with them. On April 30th, we held our second Women Helping Women brunch. There were about 75 ladies who attended with more than half of them hearing about Christian World Outreach for the first time. Having existing supporters introduce new people to CWO ministries is always a blessing because it helps us reach people we do not know by giving them the opportunity to pray and give financially.

Laura was able to spend time with with many friends at the brunch. It was a good time for her to reconnect and share about what is going on with the CWO ministries. Greg was able to serve by getting things set up for the event, by helping where needed during the brunch and by cleaning up afterwards.

This event was a great time of sharing about the CWO ministries that meet the needs of women. Our guests watched videos about the Village of Opportunity (VOO) in Burkina Faso, the ministry to widows and expectant mothers in Sri Lanka and the ministry for young ladies in the Zimbabwe Our Kids Program. We were also blessed to hear from Thembi Myeni, the co-founder of Single Moms Raising Sons, and one of the single moms who has attended a Bible study here in the Denver area.
We heard from one of the students at the VOO and Dina, the director of the VOO. It was interesting to hear Dina call the young ladies who attend the VOO as children. She and Alassane really do treat the students as their own children as they care for them and their needs while they are at the school. Dina shared how the lives of the young ladies are transformed as she and Alassane invest in their lives.

Thungamani, one of the widows that CWO helps in Sri Lanka, shared about her difficulties in life and how CWO has blessed her especially, through Bavan, the CWO staff person in Sri Lanka. Bavan calls her mother and she says she now has a son to care for her. Bringing her food is important but what is really impacting her life is the love and care that Bavan gives her as he talks with her and checks on her every week. We also heard from Suganthi, a new mother, who we have helped by providing food for her infant, as well as her older children who attend the tutoring we provide for young children.
Hannah Tapera, who is now working with the older girls in the Zimbabwe Our Kids Program, let us know how CWO is impacting the lives of young women. They are teaching the young women how to sew, make detergents and other life skills. One important way that we are helping the young ladies, is with the new school requirement of designing and making a project that is required in the school curriculum. Girls are sometimes not able to complete these projects because they do not have the resources. What a blessing it is to have Hannah working with these young ladies.

It was special to have Thembi attend the event with some of the single moms who have attended the Single Moms Raising Sons Bible studies here in the Denver area. Thembi shared about the South Africa ministry to single moms and their sons who are able to be mentored at the Men Molding Men camps and other activities. Then Kimberly, a single mom here in Denver, shared how attending the Bible studies has impacted her life and ultimately the life of her son.
Afterwards, We heard from many of the ladies who attended the Women Helping Women brunch how blessed they were to hear how God is ministering to women through CWO. We know of two that specifically said they would be sharing what they heard with their own churches.

Now we are in full swing (pun intended) with preparing for the Making a Difference Golf Tournament on June 20th. We are looking forward to having a fun day with the golfers as they play, participate in activities and hear about the CWO ministries! Coming later this August, will be the Get Movin’ for Missions which will give you the opportunity to participate wherever you live. If you are a golfer in the Denver area or are planning a trip here, there is still time to get registered before the early-bird registration fee ends on June 1st. Also, if you are interested in helping us hold a CWO event in your area please let us know. We would welcome the opportunity to serve with you in this way.

Serving Together,
Greg & Laura
