Yoder Update - October 2026

The angel answered, “Your prayers and gifts to the poor have come up as a memorial offering before God.” Acts 10:4

Greg had the opportunity to preach about the discipline of prayer at our church this month, and this verse is one that stood out as he prepared for the message. It stood out not as part of the message, but because we often share things for you to pray about but do not share how God has answered your prayers.

We have many times asked you to pray for the safety of the Christian World Outreach (CWO) ministry leaders and staff as they serve in countries with unstable governments, that have attacks on Christians, and other unsafe environments. We would ask you to continue to pray for their safety, and we want you to know that God has answered your prayers. The CWO ministry leaders and staff have received God’s protection from gang violence in Haiti, extremist attacks in Burkina Faso, and religious persecution in Sri Lanka. We have not had any reports of harm coming to any of them as they serve in these difficult places.

Along with safety from attacks, kidnapping, and other harm from the unsafe environments where they serve, we have asked that you pray for them as they travel. Although there have been some accidents, no one has had life-threatening injuries or been killed, and all have recovered. God protected Onias and others in Zimbabwe when they hit a cow one night while going to a leadership seminar. Bavan, one of our leaders in Sri Lanka, did not have any serious injuries from being hit on his moped. Pastor Elino has been recovering from the motorcycle accident he was in when returning home from a funeral. God has heard your prayers, protecting them from any harm or serious harm.

There have been times when we have asked you to pray for the health of the CWO leaders and staff. There have been times over the years when ministry leaders have dealt with major health issues, like Marie (Haiti) and Thembi (South Africa), who both had heart issues. Marie was blessed with a heart transplant, which only God could have orchestrated, and Thembi also received the care she needed. Others have dealt with illnesses like malaria, dengue fever, as well as more common illnesses, but God has heard your prayers, and they have recovered to go back to ministry.

We have asked you to pray for those we minister to through the many CWO ministries and programs. God has answered your prayers as people have received education, health care, been fed and clothed, and been discipled. Most importantly, they have heard the Gospel and been discipled. God has heard your prayers as church leaders in Haiti and Zimbabwe have been blessed with training they can use as they lead their churches. He has heard, and people have accepted the Lord as their Savior when receiving medical care in Burkina Faso. Children are being cared for in Haiti, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and Zimbabwe so they can grow physically, mentally, and spiritually. We praise God for those who have come to know the Lord through the CWO ministries, grown in their faith, and now serve the Lord.

Thank you for praying for the CWO leaders, staff, and ministries. Know that God has heard and has answered your prayers. Thank you as well for giving financially so that the ministries can continue on.

Serving Together,

Greg and Laura
