The Christian World Outreach (CWO) Event Committee has talked for several years about having a family event where families could come together to learn about missions. On August 24, after several months of brainstorming and planning, this event finally happened. Field Day Around the World was held at Shephard of the Hills one of our local supporting churches.

The event gave families the opportunity to learn together about the CWO ministries in Burkina Faso, Haiti, South Africa, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe. Families were also able to learn about some of each countries culture and where it is located in the world. As families visited the table for each country they had the opportunity to look for the country on a globe, play a game children play, play an instrument and more.

We had other activities that taught how life is different in other cultures. The families could participate in an activity that showed them about going to market, getting water for their home, how children make their own toys and other things. It was great to see the families participate in these activities together.

Gathering fruit and vegetables for market.

Making toys and other things from recycled items.

Our hope is that this event gave parents and grandparents an opportunity to share with the children in their lives about missions, having a better world view and talking about how they can help others. Each child received a globe bank that they can use to collect money to help a child through one of the CWO ministries. We are grateful that we had the opportunity to share this experience with those who attended.



We look forward to every opportunity we have to share about the work God is doing through CWO. We will be in Grand Rapids October 12-19. On October 13 we will be at the Remembrance Church services and the evening of October 14 we will have an open house to share about the CWO ministries. If you are in the Grand Rapids area we hope to see you at one or both of these gatherings. If you are unable to be at one of these and would like to meet please let us know.
