MARTHA SAVAGE @ACTIVE WELLNESS
+ FREE GUIDED MINDFULNESS MEDITATION
Join us on Saturday, October 12th from 1-6PM for City-Wide Open Studios at Active Wellness.

Showcasing the artwork of our personal training client, Martha Savage! Her work illustrates the role of movement, nature, mindfulness, perspective and reflection throughout the lifespan.

Artist Statement : The paintings (acrylic on cotton) allude to interior thoughts, represented in tints and shades of gray and neutrals. Exterior spaces are realized in magentas, reds, pastels, yellows and greens, as seen in a hallway and in close-up plant portraits and aerial views of locations and walks.

This is the second year making an impactful art presence during City-Wide Open Studios at the Health Gallery at Active Wellness. The underlying ideas pertinent to this year’s CWOS theme, Older but Younger and my health goals influenced coaching conversations, readings, personal training, walks and thoughts.

Active Wellness Boutique Fitness & Personal Training curated and staged this exhibit of paintings.

Active Wellness Bio: As health coaches and personal trainers we partner with our clients to help them achieve their potential. Understanding behavioral, nutritional and exercise science principles we coach our clients to create a clear vision and plan for improved health. Clients make sustainable changes over time. Personal training sessions progress through the function, health, fitness, performance continuum and can include mindfulness training.

THE GIANT PUPPET AND PEOPLE MAKING MAYHEM WORKSHOPS & PARADE
Every October, WVRA hosts a series of family-friendly GIANT Puppet-Making workshops and studio sessions in Westville Village. Participants' creative efforts culminate on the Sunday morning closest to Halloween when we embark on our GIANT Puppet & People-Making-Mayhem Parade!

Joined by costumed friends, neighbors and other giant puppets from around New Haven, the parade winds up at the Edgewood Park Farmers Market for one gigantic outdoor Halloween Party.

Please note Puppet Master Muffy Pendergast is back to lead workshops!
We will have basic materials including glue, paint, brushes, and paper mache but we recommend you bring any extra supplies like newspaper for paper mache and other arts and crafts materials you want to implement into your puppet design.

Any questions please email us at  wvra@westvillect.org .
