Irish Proverbs for the Diligent
This time of the year is a busy one. In schools, it’s the home stretch. For educators, it’s crunch time to finish curriculum, improve student outcomes through skilled lessons and final months to tutor and mentor students before Summer. For students, it’s the final miles of the marathon that is a school year, getting their assignments completed while taking standardized tests that will impact their future plans of college and career. For businesses, it’s time to close out that first quarter, reach your goals, and take on new challenges to continue the year strong.

No matter where you are, we are all at work.

Cristo Rey Jesuit teaches our scholars to work hard, but we all know “The tiredness leaves but the profit remains.” “There’s no luck except where there is discipline.” Discipline and hard work reap rewards, and your involvement in our students’ educational and professional development is work. We know our supervisors work hard to form meaningful work experiences for our students. We know it can be a challenge to check in and out with your student workers each day and track their progress in their placements. Please know how grateful we are to you. Know the impact that you are making on our students' lives. You are mentors and role models for our scholars. The experiences you are sharing with them will stick with them for a lifetime.

Together we have taken on the challenge of preparing the future leaders of our great city. That can be a heavy task, but know this: “Many hands make light work.” It takes a village to foster the excellence inside of each of our youth. You have taken on this responsibility because you know how important this work is. For all of this and more, thank you.

May God bless you and keep you.

Founding Class Member Begins Career At CRJ!
Please join us in welcoming Daniela Garcia (CRJ Class of 2019) as the Admissions Coordinator in the Admissions Office. Daniela is a member of the first graduating class at CRJ and is one of our two CRJ graduates to obtain a bachelor's degree and receive a job offer right after college.

Daniela gives credit to her CRJ teachers and CWSP for preparing her for college and for a professional career.

“I am so grateful that I was given the opportunity to join CRJ. At that time, everything was new and we were so proud to lead the way. My CWSP placement at Catholic Financial Life truly prepared me for my life after high school and for my career at Alverno in communication. I am grateful for my CRJ teachers who believed in me and pushed me throughout the years. Because of you I know the importance of education and I always strive to give back. I look forward to sharing my story with prospective students and how my education at CRJ has prepared me for college, career and life.”

During Daniela’s career at Cristo Rey Jesuit, she worked at Catholic Financial Life, Ascension, Marquette, and El Rey. After graduation from CRJ, she was the first in her family to graduate from college, obtaining a Bachelor’s degree from Alverno College in Communication and Media Studies. Daniela is back at Cristo Rey Jesuit to pay it forward; she is excited to expand access to college preparatory education to students from diverse communities and limited financial resources.

Please join us as we welcome Daniela to our CRJ community, and let's celebrate this milestone for our school and our mission.
Staff to Work Opportunity
Here at Cristo Rey Jesuit, we prepare Trailblazers for college, career and life. From February through May, we offer CRJ staff the opportunity to visit students at work, allowing them to deepen their relationships with students and connect with our partners. Staff visits will be coordinated by the CWSP team and will only occur if partners are interested and available. Reach out to Ellen Wilkinson, Client and Student Relations Director, if you are interested in meeting CRJ teachers or have questions.
