Thank you to everyone who streamed The Gift of Love: A CYT Benefit over Valentine's Day weekend! It was a joy to celebrate love with you, and we thank you for your support of CYT KC! Thank you also to all of the alumni and staff members who participated in this wonderful event. We are so blessed by the CYT KC family!

We are thrilled to announce our exciting line-up of summer camps for summer 2021! Whether you like to sing, dance, act, or work behind the scenes, you're sure to find the camp for you at CYT!

FULL-DAY CAMP

These high-energy day camps give students ages 7 to 13 the chance to act, sing, and dance their way through a 30-minute adaptation of one of their favorite shows in just one week! Auditions for lead roles are optional, and all campers will be fully involved in this high-energy performance, which will be filmed and distributed to families!

These week-long camps will be held throughout the summer at the CYT Studios from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. We have two awesome shows to choose from in 2021: Annie KIDS and The Jungle Book KIDS! Join us onstage for one or both!
XTREME CAMP

Experience a week of action-packed adventures while we explore the world of theater! Campers ages 10 to 16 will learn stage combat, improv, and technical theatre skills while diving into some of the greatest fictional universes. Campers in this non-musical theatre camp will produce a filmed showcase where they will perform an original script featuring some of their favorite characters.

These week-long camps will be held at the CYT Studios from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. In 2021, we will offer two exciting themes: A Long Time Ago in a Galaxy Far, Far Away and The Dark Knight and the Shadows. Come travel the galaxies and/or visit Gotham City with us!
HIGH SCHOOL DRAMA CAMP
Registration begins Monday, March 8!
This intensive extended day camp gives students ages 14 to 19 the opportunity to prepare a fully staged, full-length play in just a week, culminating in two streaming performances of the production.

This week-long camp will be held July 5-9 from 8:45 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the CYT Studios with live-streaming performances at 2 & 7 p.m. on July 10. This year, students will perform The Heiress. Join us for a fun week of growing your acting and performance skills!
MIDDLE SCHOOL & HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL THEATRE CAMPS
Registration begins Monday, March 8!
Campers ages 11 to 14 and 14 to 18* will spend two weeks rehearsing at the CYT Studios in order to prepare a full musical production. The last day of camp will include a full dress rehearsal at the beautiful Bell Cultural Events Center on the MNU campus, and the camp will culminate in three live performances!

Middle School Musical Theatre Camp will be held June 14-18 and June 21-24 from 5 pm to 9:30 p.m. at the CYT Studios and June 25 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at MidAmerica Nazarene University. Performances will be June 25 at 7 p.m. and June 26 at 2 & 7 p.m. at MidAmerica Nazarene University. Students will perform Shrek Jr.

High School Musical Theatre Camp will be held July 11 from 2 to 10 p.m. at the CYT Studios, July 12-16 and 18-22 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the CYT Studios & July 23 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at MidAmerica Nazarene University. Performances will be July 23 at 7 p.m. and July 24 at 2 & 7 p.m. at MidAmerica Nazarene University. Students will perform Godspell.

We hope you will get involved in these exciting productions!

*Campers may be 19 if they have just graduated high school in the spring of 2021.

UPCOMING DANCE CONCERT DATES
The Dance Concert Costume Parade is March 22-25. Dance students should be receiving costumes over the next couple of weeks. Please have them wear their costume to class during Costume Parade week with hair and make up done.

Dance pictures will be at the studio on Saturday, March 27th. They will take place from 5-8:30. Specific times have been sent to your email. Please have students arrive in full costume, hair, and makeup.

March 21 is celebrated as World Down Syndrome Day! The date for WDSD is the 21st day of the 3rd month, which was selected to signify the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which causes Down syndrome.

The HEART (Helping to Encourage Awareness and Recognition in Theater) Inclusion program at CYT has been welcoming all families in classes, shows and camps since 2000. We have been inspired by the impact that inclusion makes in our families and communities. 

Inclusion promotes hope, builds leadership opportunities in all students and changes perception of disabilities as we educate and create awareness of the abilities in all students. 

We can continue to share the gift of love in our communities by celebrating inclusion and the accomplishments of our students with developmental disabilities. Please contact heartcoordinator@cytkc.org for camp and class information and to register.
