Due to the extended local stay-at-home orders, the CYT office will be closed through May 10th . At this time,  we plan to reopen the office on Monday, May 11th with the limited hours of 10am - 2pm . We will be available to take phone calls at that time. In order to keep staff and public safe, if you need to visit the CYT office, please call ahead.

A NOTE FROM ARTISTIC DIRECTOR, GINA MILBOURN
We miss you all! We miss your smiling faces and joyful singing and dancing. We know that you miss hanging out at classes and rehearsals. Thank God for the ability to see and hear one another virtually, but that's not the same as CYT in person.

As confusing and bewildering and irritating as our current world of Covid may be, we know that our God is bigger! Whenever you feel down or helpless, remember that God is always with you.

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6.

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

God loves you so very much! Hold on to Him no matter what!

In Christ,
Gina
Dear CYT KC Community,

The CYT KC Board of Directors prays this finds you safe, healthy and adjusting to all the changes in our community and world. We recognize the impact that Coronavirus is having on each and every one of our lives and we want to take a moment to share how CYT KC is weathering the Coronavirus storm, preserving the health of our community while continuing to provide outstanding Christ-centered classes and performances for our youth.

As you may know, the role of the CYT KC Board of Directors is to ensure success on the business and financial side of the organization. As you can imagine, the staff and board are focused on several fronts to maintain both the business and finances of CYT KC while continuing to listen for God’s plan for our organization. First, we would like to recognize and thank our sponsors for continuing to provide critical support . Their generosity is important to sustaining us through these times. Second, through the efforts of our dedicated staff, CYT KC was blessed to be awarded a small loan from the federal economic stimulus program which will help us continue to move in a positive direction. While CYT KC is blessed with this financial support, we have still had to make some very difficult decisions due to the current economic situation and our commitment to being good stewards to our community. One of these difficult decisions is again postponing the June 20th 2020 CYT KC Gala . We look forward to the possibility of holding the event either in person or virtually in October 2020 , but there are too many unknowns to make a firm decision at this point.

While the generosity of our sponsors and hard work of staff have allowed CYT to continue to offer classes in an online medium, we are projecting financial difficulty in our immediate future. Though we’re working with a skeleton crew and saving everywhere we can, the postponement of the CYT KC Gala and cancellation of our three spring shows mean CYT KC is not receiving the revenue it relies on during what is normally our fund raising season.

You are the reason that CYT KC has been in existence for 20 incredible years. When it is safe to do so again, we plan on continuing the tradition of developing character and creativity in kids of all ages through quality theater arts training that brings families and communities together while reflecting the Creator. Until then, we need your help to sustain CYT KC and its staff as they serve not only our organization, but the community.

How can you help? There are a few simple ways, including:

  1. Make a donation instead of requesting a refund for cancelled shows. This is important for us right now. If you are not able to donate, consider leaving money on account for future purchases.
  2. Consider adding a little extra to your gift. If you're already a CYT KC sponsor, or provide donations, feel free to make your gift a little larger than usual to help us close the gap.
  3. If you're not yet a sponsor or donor, consider starting now. A gift of ANY size makes a difference.
  4. Come back to CYT KC. We are currently offering online classes and summer camps. When you’re ready to sign up, bring a group!
  5. Don't forget the arts—like, share, comment on social media. Many of us are relying on the arts (movies, books, music) as we stay at home. Follow us on Facebook and stay tuned to our website for news and updates.
Coronavirus has forced each of us to slow down, spend more time with family, and come up with new creative ways to interact due to social distancing rules. We know that along with these changes, many in our CYT community are facing financial difficulties or the prospect of reduction in compensation, furloughs, and layoffs. Regardless of whether you are currently in a position to support CYT KC financially during this time, please keep CYT KC in your prayers.

We look forward to when we can meet together again. When we do, CYT KC will be committed to safe conditions for our students and their families. Until then, stay strong and God blessings to you all.

Peace,
CYT KC Board of Directors

Lots of fun and a great way to stay in shape and stay connected!
Families that have children with disabilities rely on many to help support the needs of disability in their child's life. During this quarantine time, our family realizes how much we rely on the lessons we have learned through our daughter's disability. We have learned to live more structured daily, to live with constant schedules and to work hard to stay healthy.

The past few weeks have been a little confusing and hard to understand for all of us as our plans, schedules, routines and activities have been suddenly interrupted.
Social distancing affects all of us. This time at home has slowed life down for us. While we physically distance ourselves going forward, we are learning to find more opportunities to reach out to friends and families daily to fuel our hearts and our minds. We are so thankful that we have tools to keep our interactions ongoing through technology. We are all in this together!

Keeping our health a priority each day is hard work and it will provide us fuel and energy and keep us strong mentally and physically . Learning ways to manage stress is so important to keep our immune systems healthy. Through our daughter's disability, we have found ways to keep our whole family healthier and happier and we would like to share them.

Focus on Positivity always.
  1. Pray. Keep a happiness/gratitude journal. Write down three things you are thankful for each morning-Improves emotional health
  2. Listen to Worship songs-Improves mental health
  3. Drink Water-Boosts mood and improves sleep
  4. Eat meals at same time of day-Consistency creates accountability
  5. Exercise: Walk, run, swim, dance, etc.-Increases energy, releases dopamine in the brain which lowers anxiety/depression/reduces stress

Be safe. Be well. We are so excited to see you soon!
