🎈 You're invited to the grand opening of the first-ever combined Library and Active Living Center and Virginia Foil Park in Mount Pleasant (1111 N. Washington St.) on Wednesday, October 23 at 5:30 p.m. This new 20,000-square-foot center will serve as a hub for residents of all ages, featuring an extensive collection of books, digital resources, interactive learning spaces, a large multipurpose room and a fitness area equipped with exercise equipment. Nearby, Virginia Foil Park will complement the center with three lighted ballfields, a playground, a walking trail with fitness stations and ample open space for future development. In addition to the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the event will include facility tours and light refreshments.

🏡 Cabarrus County and the cities of Concord and Kannapolis are working together to offer a Fair Housing panel discussion virtually on Thursday, October 24 at 6 p.m. Anyone interested in learning more about fair housing laws, their rights and protections against discrimination are encouraged to attend. 💧 The Water and Sewer Authority of Cabarrus County (WSACC) recently celebrated the completion of Phase 3 of the Rocky River Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant expansion, increasing its capacity from 26.5 million gallons per day (MGD) to 30 MGD. Phase 4 is already underway, set to add another 4 MGD for a total of 34 MGD, with completion expected in 2027. WSACC operates independently, funded by user fees and with no taxing authority, serving as the primary planning agent for water and sewer facilities in Cabarrus County. Learn more.
🧠 Mental Health of America (MHA) of the Central Carolinas is joining Partners Health Management to host a Mental Health Resource Fair and dinner, followed by a panel discussion on Sunday, October 27 from 4 to 7 p.m. at First Missionary Baptist Church in Concord. Cabarrus County Behavioral Health Director, Dr. Kamilah McKissick will be an event panelist. There will also be opportunities for youth ages 11-13 and 14-18 to have a seperate discussion around mental health. Register here.
