We hope you are enjoying your summer! At Cabrini, we've been busy preparing for the upcoming school year. Work is being done to keep our building looking beautiful, including tuckpointing, painting, and deep cleaning. Additionally, staff have been participating in professional development and to continue the Cabrini tradition of academic excellence.

We're Always Learning!

In June, Mrs. Koetting and Ms. Pattie attended the Latino Enrollment Institute (LEI) Conference (upper right) at Notre Dame. Our school is one of 63 nationwide that are part of this year-long formation program that helps Catholic schools increase enrollment.

Mrs. Koetting also had the opportunity to join many of our Zomi families for the Zomi Eucharistic Congress Mass at the Cathedral Basilica on July 5th and 6th (bottom right). Several of our students shared their gifts by serving, singing, and reading. Check an article in the St. Louis Review here!

Out and About

Cabrini kids have been active this summer! Many of our students attend programs through partner organizations like Hope Ignites and Gene Slay's Boys and Girls Club. At Hope Ignites, students have weekly outings which include going to the Zoo, City Museum, hiking, learning old-fashioned printmaking at Central Print, and more. Segied (pictured above in the lower left) enjoyed the trip to Walther Park. Other students have participated in weekly camps like Wilderkids and Boatmaking camp at Building Futures.

Several of our older students have attended programs at local high schools, like Upward Bound at SLUHigh and RISE at Cor Jesu. Rising 7th grader, Noelia (pictured in the upper right), shared, "My favorite part of RISE is the high school leadership class and getting to meet students from different schools." While there are field trips, swimming, and other fun activities, students are also sharpening their academic and organizational skills to better prepare them for high school.

We are are looking forward to seeing our students back in our building on August 12th and hearing about their many summer adventures!

Alumni Spotlight

We reached out to alumnae Beatriz Mora ('08) about what she's up to and how Cabrini has impacted her life. After graduating from nursing school in St. Louis, Beatriz decided to do travel nursing and ended up in Chicago, where she currently works as a triage nurse for Erie Family Health Clinic. She spends her days helping address patient health concerns and making sure they get the best and quickest care possible.

When asked how Cabrini's values have impacted her life, she shared, "Going to a diverse school has helped me be a compassionate nurse in my current job. Erie welcomes all people, no matter their immigration status or the status of their family members."

Advice she would give current students is, "Don't be afraid to ask for help. It shows strength, not weakness. Everyone needs support sometimes, and asking questions is how you learn, grow, and build confidence. I've seen this in my own life, especially as I became a nurse. There were times I didn't know something, and speaking up helped me learn to do my job better."

Favorite Cabrini memory:

Doing the 8th-grade musical, Seussical Jr. It was fun to do with my classmates and perform for the school!

Favorite activities:

Pilates, reading, and watching a Netflix series.
