As you head to the pool, lake, or river, make water safety a priority for the whole family.
Remember the ABCDs of water safety:
👀 Adult supervision
🚪 Barriers around pools/spas
🏊♀️ Swim classes
🛟 Devices such as life jackets
Drowning can happen in seconds and is often silent. Stay alert and stay safe!
| | | |
Monsoon rain can bring relief from the heat, but it can also create perfect breeding grounds for mosquitoes! 🦟
After a storm, take a few minutes to empty, scrub, cover, or toss anything holding water around your home.
#FightTheBite and help protect your family from mosquito-borne diseases like West Nile virus.
| | | Investing in Glendale's Future | |
Good news, Glendale!
As some of you may remember, the City of Glendale is investing in modern water-meter technology to improve service, provide better insights into your water usage, and support long-term conservation efforts. The transition from traditional mechanical meters to electronic meters with cellular connectivity will enable customers to view their detailed water usage. This modern technology can also send leak alerts to help us manage our most critical resource, water.
All meters will be replaced in this multi-year project, starting with a 7-month pilot phase for approximately 3,500 locations that began this week and is scheduled to end in January 2027.
If your residence was selected for the pilot program, you should receive a postcard from the city a few weeks before your installation takes place. The postcard explains what to expect on installation day.
Check out the interactive map to find out if your meter will be replaced during the pilot. Work areas are shown in red.
| | Have more questions? Give us a call at 623-930-3190 (M-F, 8 AM–5 PM). If you're already scheduled for an installation and have questions, our contractor MSI is happy to help at 800-612-6979 (7 AM–7 PM). | | |
Annual Lead and Copper Drinking Water Study
Each year, the Glendale Municipal Water System invites customers to take part in the Lead and Copper Drinking Water Study. We are seeking Glendale Water Customers who live in homes built between 1982 and 1989 to participate in the study. You may receive a phone call from a water services employee asking if you'd like to participate.
Participating in the testing is voluntary and free of charge, and you won't be asked to make any purchases. If you choose to participate, you only need to provide a sample of your tap water to the Glendale Water Quality Laboratory between June and September. The City will provide all sample collection items and arrange for contactless delivery and pick-up.
Glendale's water is non-corrosive, and it is not expected to show elevated levels of lead or copper. This monitoring program is one of many city programs designed to ensure that customers have access to high-quality drinking water that complies with all aspects of the Safe Drinking Water Act. Participation in the study helps the City ensure that the water supplied by the Glendale Municipal Water System meets the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requirements for lead and copper.
| If you have any questions, please visit glendaleaz.gov/Live/City-Services/Water-Services/Lead-and-Copper or call the City of Glendale Water Quality Laboratory at 623-930-3897. | | | | |

Preparing in advance by attending walk-through registration, submitting required immunization records, completing the free or reduced-price meal application, and reviewing the district's new Clear Bag Policy can help ensure a smooth transition back to campus. Beginning the school year prepared also allows students to focus on what matters most: building positive routines, staying engaged in the classroom, and establishing strong attendance habits from day one. | | | |

Summer is here, and so is SUN Bucks! ☀️
DES and the Arizona Department of Education are pleased to announce the return of SUN Bucks. A total of 604,000 Arizona children are estimated to benefit from the program this summer, and SUN Bucks will infuse $72.5 million into Arizona’s economy.
Eligible children will receive $120 in grocery benefits to help families purchase food while school is out for the summer.
Whether you’re receiving SUN Bucks for the first time or have participated before, now is a great time to learn more about the program and check your eligibility. While most families will receive SUN Bucks automatically, those that need to submit applications must do so by August 3, 2026.

🚦Safety upgrades are underway!
Eight signalized intersections are being upgraded with flashing yellow arrows, funded through a federal Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) grant administered by ADOT.
These signals help reduce left-turn crashes by giving drivers clearer guidance when making permissive left turns.
Recently completed intersections include:
📍67th Ave & Peoria Ave
📍99th Ave & Glendale Ave
📍59th Ave & Greenway Rd
📍67th Ave & Cactus Rd
These improvements are helping to make our roads safer for everyone!
| |
|
On behalf of the City of Glendale, ADOT has contracted with William Charles Construction for improvements to various sidewalk locations in the public right-of-way in the Cactus District.
This project will improve pedestrian safety and accessibility in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) by constructing new infill sidewalks where no sidewalk currently exists, installing/upgrading corner curb ramps, and reconstructing driveway aprons. All work will take place in the existing public right-of-way, and any landscape disturbed during this process will be restored or adjusted to accommodate the new improvements.
Scheduled to begin in mid-July, crews will install concrete curb, sidewalk, ADA ramps, and identified driveways on 46th Avenue, between Ocotillo Road and Glendale Avenue, to connect to the existing sidewalk. Driveway work will be coordinated to maintain access to the extent possible, but may require intermittent access restrictions. Roads will remain open for travel; however, travelers may be impacted as traffic is shifted around the work zone with lane or turn restrictions, or restrictions to on-street parking.
For project information, please call 602.532.6250 or visit glendaleaz.gov/central-core.
