Diane Duran

Hi, I’m Diane Duran and the co-grid chief for Cal Club. I’m running for the board of governors with the goal of supporting the next generation who will continue to carry the torch of passion for racing into the future. This year, I was invited to fill a vacancy in the board on an interim basis. I appreciated the opportunity and found that I can be a bridge between the generations. My goal, if elected to the board, is to foster increased and updated communication and engagement amongst volunteers and racers through various means, whatever is comfortable for each generation, in this outstanding group we call our racing family. Thank you for your consideration.

Brandon Droese

Incumbent

Hello, my name is Brandon Droese and I am running for the Cal Club board of governors. I have been a member of SCCA for 15 years and raced every season since then in many different Mazda RX7s (currently the #02 EP white/black/orange Mazda RX7). I have raced in different classes such as ITA, GT3, and EP. Fortunately, I have had the chance to race many different tracks with amazing competitors to learn from. Volunteering at races such as the Long Beach GP allowed me to increase my knowledge on every aspect of racing. Through the years, I have earned many class championships and class track records. More recently, I have had the privilege of serving as a Board Member on Cal Club. Through the years I have helped Cal Club thrive by advocating for more track ownership and by helping choose the tracks we run by giving a racers perspective on courses and track conditions. In addition, I am one of the younger board members at 33. This “younger” perspective on things gives a different look into growing the club and increasing interest in the next generation of racers. I have advocated for more social media presence and helped create a small budget to have a larger social media presence to attract new and younger members. I am seeking re-election to the Cal Club board to continue the growth of the club as a fellow racer, and to attract the next generation of racers to grow with us.

Ed Erlandson

Incumbent

I have been a CalClub member since 1980 and an SCCA member since 1976. Racing a variety of cars over the years with Formula F being the usual class recently. I am a current board member and through the years I have been involved with T&S, SCCA Pro Racing Tech and Stewarding, Flagging a few times, and Track Days.

This past year I am most likely recognized as the Project Manager for "The Circuit" at Buttonwillow. I am extremely proud of getting the new track approved for our event this past January and will be far more pleased when all the work is complete.

As the Treasurer for Cal-Club I have been reviewing our finances for the last couple of years and, at the expense of sometimes sounding like the grump in the room, I have pointed out that we need to perform better financially. As we have the best racing and the most qualified workerswe need to continue and improve our best efforts to market and promote this; in addition, we need to be certain that people know we are having great fun! That is why my wife and I sponsored the wine tasting at our last race, to be sure we are having fun! (we did!) The goal being greater participation and satisfaction by our current and new members.

I am not alone on our quest to make our club the best and most fun. Our other board members, with Ceci and all of the volunteers are working towards this same goal. I can do my part and help others to do even more.

Looking forward to everything we can achieve in the near future

I’d Appreciate Your Vote

Dear Cal Club Members,

After 36 years of racing with Cal Club, I’m excited to announce my candidacy for a seat on the Cal Club Board of Governors. This club has been a big part of my life, and I’d be honored to contribute my experience and energy to help guide its continued success.

I’ve been an active racer for decades and still compete every race weekend in both SRF3 and FE2. Over the years, I’ve supported the club in many ways—on and off the track—and I’ve had the privilege of being part of two major milestones in our history: the original team that raised the funds to build Buttonwillow Raceway’s Classic Track 28 years ago, and more recently, the effort to get our new Circuit Track open this year.

Professionally, I bring a background in sales, marketing, and finance, and have built multiple successful businesses from the ground up across several industries. I’ve learned that success comes from asking quality questions, listening to people’s pain points, and creating thoughtful, innovative solutions. I believe those same principles can benefit Cal Club as we look to strengthen participation, grow membership, and ensure a vibrant future for our racing community.

Having raced all over the country, I’ve seen what other regions do well—and what they struggle with. I want to share those insights to help Cal Club continue improving the racer and worker experience. I’m also passionate about attracting the next generation of racers, volunteers, and officials, and finding innovative, collaborative ways to bring greater awareness to our events.

Most importantly, I want to give back to the club that has given me so much over the years.

I’d truly appreciate your vote and the opportunity to serve on the Cal Club Board. Together, we can continue building on our proud history while ensuring the future of our sport stays strong and inclusive.

Thank you for your consideration and support,

Paul Marino Cal Club Member & Racer

John Stott

Incumbent

Hello, my name is John Stott, and I am running for the Cal Club Board of Governors. I am currently a member of the Board and the Regional Executive for Cal Club. I am racing in GT-2 or Spec Miata at most events.

I have been an SCCA and Cal Club member for 40 years. I have also been fortunate enough to race in many regions around the country. This has given me an opportunity to experience the performance of these regions in comparison to Cal Club and then use some of those experiences to improve the Cal Club experience.

The Cal Club Board has been working to improve the experience for both racers and volunteers. We have also been working with the Buttonwillow Racetrack team for some time to get the new race track operational. I am proud to be associated with such a great group of racers and volunteers.

I would appreciate the opportunity to continue on the Board of Governors to provide continuity and complete some of the new programs that we have just launched.
