As a reminder, Cal/OSHA is holding their final advisory committee next week on potential revisions to our already-in-place workplace violence standard, and it our last chance to push for real substantive change before the draft enters formal rulemaking. The advisory committee will discuss the draft for title 8 section 3343, workplace violence prevention (WPV) in general industry, posted on May 13, 2025.

HERE is a draft coalition letter CRA will sign onto. Please review the letter and provide any comments by 12pm PT Thursday, November 6. Thank you to everyone who provided comments by my deadline of last Friday.

As a refresher: This rulemaking is proceeding to revise the existing WPV standard, which was put into place statutorily by legislation (SB 553 – Cortese – 2023). This revision is supposed to move to formal rulemaking in December of 2025, meaning that this advisory committee may be our last big chance to make substantive suggestions on this regulation. Once it enters formal rulemaking, the Board usually will not change text, and it will pass within 12 months. The May 13 draft is available HERE.
