Cal State LA to host Eagle Fest 2024
The Office of Admissions and Recruitment is hosting Eagle Fest on Saturday, Nov. 16, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. During the event, prospective students and their families can explore the campus, meet with faculty, advisors, and current students, and learn all the reasons why they should apply to Cal State LA for fall 2025. Campus and housing tours will be offered, as well as application and financial aid workshops. Students interested in attending Cal State LA can apply online using the Cal State Apply application portal. The priority application deadline is Dec. 2.

Veterans Day Ceremony scheduled for Nov. 7
Cal State LA will commemorate Veterans Day with a ceremony on Thursday, Nov. 7, from 12 to 1 p.m. at the University-Student Union Plaza. Hear from Cal State LA student veterans about their military experience and how it motivated them to excel in life and overcome challenges. Following the ceremony, please join the Veterans Resource Center and Associated Students, Inc. for food and drinks. Refreshments are on a first-come, first-served basis. The University will be closed on Nov. 11 in observance of Veterans Day.

Cal State LA celebrates Native American Heritage Month
Cal State LA is celebrating Native American Heritage Month this November to recognize the histories, cultures, and contributions of Native American communities. This year’s celebration includes a stage reading, film screening and panel, and a canned food drive for the nonprofit United American Indian Involvement, Inc. Give blood at Cedars-Sinai drive on campus
Students, faculty, staff, and community members can give blood on campus during the Cedars-Sinai blood drive on Tuesday, Nov. 12, and Wednesday, Nov. 13, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Donors will receive a limited-edition T-shirt plus their choice of a gift card from Amazon or Starbucks. The blood drive is organized in partnership with the Patricia A. Chin School of Nursing. To make an appointment, please visit the Cedars-Sinai Blood Drive webpage (group code: CSLA). The mobile blood drive bus will be in Lot 4.

Donate to the Cal State LA Toy Donation Drive
Cal State LA is hosting a Toy Donation Drive in collaboration with the Para Los Niños nonprofit organization, which serves needy children and families in Los Angeles. Donations of new and unused toys will be collected from Nov. 18 until Dec. 13. Drop off donations at the Center for Student Involvement, located on the third floor of the University-Student Union, or the Center for Engagement, Service, and the Public Good, located on the lower level of the Career Center. Silverman Gallery features a senior project exhibition
The Ronald H. Silverman Fine Arts Gallery at Cal State LA presents its Fall 2024 Senior Project Exhibition, celebrating the creative journey of senior artists from the Art Department. Cal State LA presents ‘Mojada: A Medea in Los Angeles’
The Department of Theatre and Dance (TAD) at Cal State LA presents Mojada: A Medea in Los Angeles, a modern adaptation of the classic Greek drama of Medea, written by MacArthur Award-winning playwright Luis Alfaro. The show will be presented at the State Playhouse for eight performances from Nov. 14 to 23. Tickets are $15 for general admission and $8 for students with ID. The Luckman features a performance by The Kingdom Choir
London’s gospel ensemble, The Kingdom Choir, will perform at The Luckman Fine Art Complex at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16. The Kingdom Choir first attracted the world’s attention when they performed their show-stopping performance of Stand By Me in front of a worldwide television audience of over two billion at the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in May 2018. Cal State LA faculty, staff, and students can reserve up to four complimentary tickets while supplies last. Reserved tickets will be available for pick up on the evening of the performance at The Luckman Box Office. A valid Cal State LA One Card is required when picking up tickets.

Sign up for Mental Health First Aid Training
Faculty and staff are invited to participate in Mental Health First Aid Training. This program teaches participants how to assist someone experiencing a crisis. Participants learn risk factors and warning signs of serious and developing mental health problems, how to talk with a person who might be experiencing a mental health problem, and strategies to help identify the next best steps. The training is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 6, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Please check the training website for registration information.
