Vote in the Nov. 8 California General Election

A Los Angeles County Vote Center is located at Cal State LA in the University Library, Palmer Wing, fourth floor, and will be open to the campus and surrounding communities from Saturday, Nov. 5, through Election Day on Tuesday, Nov. 8. Hours of operation and other details can be found on the Cal State LA Vote Center webpage. If you missed the Oct. 24 deadline for voter registration, you can still vote at any Vote Center in L.A. County through conditional voter registration.

Register for CSU Graduation Initiative 2025 Convening

Please join colleagues from across the CSU for this year's Graduation Initiative 2025 Convening. The convening will include an update on systemwide progress in reaching GI 2025 goals and will feature inspirational stories from students. The event is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 28, from 11 to 11:45 a.m. This year’s theme is “Transformational Change One Student at a Time.” Please register in advance and learn more about the event on the Graduation Initiative 2025 Convening website.

Cal State LA to host the Association for Ethnic Studies Conference

The Association for Ethnic Studies' 50th Anniversary Conference will be held at Cal State LA on Nov. 3-5, 2022. Founded in 1972, the association provides an interdisciplinary forum for scholars and activists concerned with the national and international dimensions of race and ethnicity. Hosted by the College of Ethnic Studies at Cal State LA, this year’s conference theme is “Ethical Community Care: Imagining New Futures While Living in the Now.” Please register online to attend this conference.

University Library exhibit celebrates Cal State LA’s 75th anniversary

To celebrate Cal State LA’s 75th anniversary, the University Library is presenting “We Are LA: Uncovering 75 Years of Legacy in the University Archives,” an exhibition featuring archival documents, photographs, and artifacts from Special Collections and Archives. The exhibit is on display in Library North on the first floor until May 27, 2023.

The Luckman presents a concert by Gloria Gaynor

Grammy Hall of Fame inductee and World Music Award's Legend recipient Gloria Gaynor will perform at the Luckman on Saturday, Nov. 5, at 8 p.m. During a career spanning more than 50 years, she has achieved global stardom with chart-topping songs, including the Grammy-winning "I Will Survive." Veterans Day Ceremony scheduled for Nov. 10

Cal State LA will commemorate Veterans Day with a ceremony on Thursday, Nov. 10, from 12:15 to 1 p.m. at the University-Student Union Plaza. The University will be closed on Nov. 11 in observance of Veterans Day. For more information about the event, call the Cal State LA Veterans Resource Center at 323-343-5080.

Donate to Cal State LA Canned Food Drive

Support families in our community by donating to the Cal State LA Canned Food Drive, a collaboration between the University and the United American Indian Involvement, Inc. When you donate five canned food items, you will receive an AMC movie ticket while supplies last. Donations of canned goods are being accepted from Nov. 1 to Nov. 18. Drop off donations at the Center for Student Involvement or the Center for Engagement, Service, and the Public Good. For details, call 323-343-3380.

Join Cal State LA Gives Back! for a day of service on Nov. 17

Students, faculty, and staff are invited to volunteer and participate in a day of community service at United American Indian Involvement, Inc. in Los Angeles. The Cal State LA Gives Back! event will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 17. Transportation is provided. This service project is organized by the Center for Engagement, Service, and the Public Good. Space is limited, so sign up before Nov. 4 by calling 323-343-3380.

Cal State LA receives award for design of online Newsroom

Cal State LA was recently recognized by the University and College Designers Association (UCDA) for its online Newsroom, which was developed by the Office of Communications and Public Affairs team. The University received an Excellence Award for the website in the UCDA Design Awards’ print and digital competition. Winning entries were on display during the 52nd annual UCDA Design Conference in New Mexico, Oct. 15-18, 2022.

Get a flu shot at the Student Health Center

The Student Health Center offers flu shots for students, faculty, and staff. Flu shots are free for students and $20 for faculty and staff. Call 323-343-3300 to schedule an appointment.
