California Department of Health Issued Two New Health Orders
|
In response to increasing COVID-19 hospitalizations and ICU patients due to the highly contagious Delta variant, and to further protect vulnerable Californians and health care workers, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) issued two new public health orders on August 5.
- The first order requires workers in health care settings to be fully vaccinated or receive their second dose by September 30, 2021
- The second public health order directs hospitals, skilled nursing facilities and intermediate care facilities to verify that visitors are fully vaccinated or have tested negative for COVID-19 in the prior 72 hours before indoor visits

California State University to Implement COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement for Fall 2021 Term
|
California State University announced that it will require faculty, staff and students who are accessing campus facilities at any university location to be immunized against SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. Dates by which faculty, staff and students must certify vaccination will vary by campus due to differences in academic calendars, but all certifications must be completed no later than September 30. National Committee for Quality Assurance Renews CalOptima’s Accreditation Through 2024
|
Reflecting a longstanding commitment to quality, CalOptima is proud to announce that the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) renewed the agency’s Medi-Cal accreditation for three years, through July 27, 2024. NCQA Accreditation means that health plan operations meet rigorous requirements for consumer protection and quality improvement. CalOptima received a perfect 100% score on its renewal review.

CalOptima is working with community partners to host mobile back-to-school vaccination events for students and their families. All students, including CalOptima members, can schedule an appointment to catch up on vaccinations before the school year begins. Routine and COVID-19 vaccines will be available.

OCTA Offering Free Rides for All OC Youth
|
The Youth Ride Free pass will allow passengers ages 18 and under to ride any OCTA fixed-route bus in Orange County for free during September 2021–February 2022. The pass, which will be available by request from parents, will be a physical pass with a magnetic stripe. OCTA will work to distribute the pass in partnership with local K–12 schools, as well as at the OCTA store and online. To read more about the Youth Ride Free pass, click here.

Emergency Rental Assistance Resources

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is reaching out to government agencies, companies, advocates, nonprofits, the faith community and others to make sure renters and landlords take advantage of historic funding for emergency rental assistance.
