COVID-19 Updates

CalOptima and County of Orange Partner to Host Vaccine Clinics and Resource Fairs

To boost access to COVID-19 vaccines for hard-to-reach CalOptima members, CalOptima and County of Orange agencies are partnering to hold two more vaccine clinics at CalOptima’s main office on June 5 and June 12 for Pfizer first or second doses and Johnson & Johnson single dose. Our office is located at 505 City Parkway West, Orange, 92868

CalOptima is hosting an additional vaccine clinic at CalOptima on Saturday, June 19 from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. for our members as well as to support the state and County’s goal to vaccinate Orange County residents.

In addition to offering vaccination for up to 1,200 people each day, the events will feature resource fair booths, health screenings and information about supportive services. Members are offered a $25 incentive per vaccine dose. Minors ages 12 to 17 need to be accompanied by their parent or guardian and are only eligible to receive the Pfizer vaccine. Walk-ins are welcome!

To register, members can call the OC COVID-19 Hotline at 1-714-834-2000 or use www.othena.com, to register and select the CalOptima vaccination site. Closure of Super Point of Dispensing Sites

On June 5, 2021, the County of Orange will close all its Super Point of Dispensing (POD) sites including the Anaheim Convention Center, OC Fair & Event Center, Soka University and Santa Ana College. Operations will shift to an expanding network of robust mobile PODs. Click here for more information about the super POD closures and accessing vaccinations at mobile PODs.

“Vax for the Win” Program

On May 27, Governor Newsom launched “Vax for the Win,” a new multi-faceted vaccine incentive program designed to motivate Californians to get their vaccination leading up to the state’s reopening on June 15. The incentives aim to give an extra nudge to those who still need to get vaccinated against COVID-19, especially those in hard-to-reach communities. The next two million people who begin and complete their COVID-19 vaccination will automatically be eligible to receive a $50 prepaid or grocery card. COVID-19 Vaccination Record

If you lost your COVID-19 vaccination card and are looking for a vaccination record, the California Immunization Registry (CAIR) can provide a replacement. CAIR is a secure, confidential, statewide computerized immunization information system for California residents.

Please allow at least 2 to 3 weeks after your vaccine is administered to request a vaccination record. CAIR is unable to produce a record that only contains COVID-19 vaccinations; the record you receive will contain ALL immunizations stored in your immunization record.

Uber Offers Transportation to Vaccination Appointments

From now through the 4th of July, Uber offers free round-trip rides for vaccination appointments. You can get up to four free rides (up to $25 each). For more information visit the Uber website.

Share Your Opinion About California Advancing and Innovating Medi-Cal (CalAIM) — In Lieu of Services (ILOS)

CalOptima is excited about a new opportunity offered by the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) under its CalAIM proposal. Specifically, CalOptima may ask DHCS for approval to offer selected In Lieu of Services (ILOS) as alternatives to Medi-Cal covered benefits. ILOS can be integrated with care management for high- risk members and would allow CalOptima to address social determinants of health in a way that is cost-effective and consistent with a whole-person care approach.

Orange County school districts are making plans to offer accelerated summer learning programs designed to help students with everything from enrichment to grade recovery to mental health. How to Keep Your Brain and Body Healthy

Join the Alzheimer’s Association on June 23 from 11 a.m.–1 p.m. to learn about strategies to improve your brain and body health. CalOptima Customer Service remains ready to respond to member needs. Members can call Customer Service from the safety of their home, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We have staff who speak their language.
