Share News about Medi-Cal Redetermination
Starting April 1, the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) will return to regular Medi-Cal eligibility and enrollment operations. CalOptima Health members will receive a mailed letter from the County of Orange Social Services Agency (SSA) asking to confirm their contact information as an initial step in the redetermination effort. Community partners and providers can assist by informing Medi-Cal members to expect this letter. If a member has changed addresses or other contact information during the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency (PHE), they should notify SSA as soon as possible by calling 855-541-5411 or visiting https://ssa.ocgov.com
Support the redetermination effort by joining DHCS’ Coverage Ambassadors, trusted messengers from clinics, Community-Based Organizations and others in the community who can reach Medi-Cal members in culturally and linguistically appropriate ways to connect them with crucial resources and communications to help them keep their health care benefits. Here are resources to help share the message as a Coverage Ambassador:

CalFresh Emergency Allotment Ends
|
Orange County residents will see lower CalFresh benefits starting in April. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Congress authorized emergency allotments to help meet food needs. Emergency allotments are an extra benefit in addition to regular CalFresh amounts. The regular CalFresh benefit amounts will not change and will continue to be put on EBT cards within the first 10 days of the month. As recipients are paid in arrears, their last emergency allotment will be issued in March payments to their Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards.
SSA created a flyer explaining the end of the emergency allotments and a flyer that lists five ways Orange County residents can increase their access to food.
