CalRecycle's Zero Waste Plan Workshop on August 14
CalRecycle is drafting a statewide Zero Waste Plan. On August 14, CalRecycle will hold a public workshop to gather feedback from interested parties on the Zero Waste Plan.

Additionally, CalRecycle is collecting feedback on zero waste, including opportunities and challenges. CalRecycle has developed a short (15-20 min) survey for additional feedback on the Zero Waste Plan, open now until the end of August. Access the survey HERE.
Battery-Embedded Products Informal Rulemaking Workshop
CalRecycle will hold an informal public workshop on August 19, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. PST to consult with the public on select requirements outlined in Senate Bill 1215 (Newman, Chapter 370, Statutes of 2022). The purpose of this workshop is to introduce draft regulatory text and solicit feedback from the public, regulated community and other interested parties as staff begin to draft regulatory language to implement, interpret and make specific certain provisions of SB 1215 (codified in Public Resources Code sections 41516 – 42485). A copy of the draft regulation text has been posted on the public notice.

Please note, in this workshop CalRecycle will not cover battery-embedded product determinations or discuss regulatory concepts regarding “commonly used household tools” or “designed to be easily removed,” which will be discussed at a future workshop.

SB54 CEQA Public Scoping Meeting Recap
CalRecycle, as the Lead Agency, is preparing a Program Environmental Impact Report (PEIR) pursuant to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) for SB 54 (Allen, Chapter 75, Statutes of 2022) Proposed Regulations. CalRecycle held a public scoping meeting in July for the purposes of soliciting written comments from interested parties, responsible agencies, agencies with jurisdiction by law, trustee agencies and involved federal agencies, as to the appropriate scope and content of the PEIR.The CRA team was in attendance and prepared a recap for our members, available HERE.
