Reminder of Virtual Workshop: Battery-Embedded Products Virtual Informal Rulemaking Workshop
Due to technical difficulties on August 19, remote attendance via Zoom and Webcast was not available. As a result, the Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) will hold a virtual informal public workshop on September 18, 2024, at 1:30 PM, covering the same content as the in-person workshop held on August 19.
The purpose of this workshop is to introduce draft regulatory text and solicit feedback from the public, regulated community and other interested parties as CalRecycle staff begin to draft regulatory language to implement, interpret and make specific certain provisions of SB 1215 (codified in Public Resources Code section 41516, and sections 42460 – 42486). A copy of the draft regulation text and workshop presentation slides has been posted on the public notice.
Workshop Topics Include:
- Emergency Rulemaking Process
- SB 1215 Statutory Overview
- Draft Regulatory Text
- Public Feedback Regarding Draft Regulatory Text
Please note, in this workshop CalRecycle will not cover battery-embedded product determinations or discuss regulatory concepts regarding “commonly used household tools” or “designed to be easily removed,” which will be discussed at a future workshop.
Visit the Battery-Embedded Products rulemaking webpage for more information.
Public comments can be submitted until October 2, 2024. Submit comments HERE or send your feedback to sarah@calretailers.com or by replying to this email.
Please note that under the California Public Records Act (Government Code section 7920.000 et seq.), all written and oral comments, attachments and associated contact information (e.g., your address, phone, email, etc.) become part of the public record and can be released to the public upon request.
