Manager's Notes

Hello Everyone,
Now that Thanksgiving is behind us, we are almost to the end of the year already. We definitely have a lot to be thankful for after being surrounded by fires recently. Some people were not so lucky, and we all need to offer support to those in need. I would like to thank Marvin and the maintenance staff as well as Raine and the aquatic staff for their diligence in getting the Center ready to re-open. That was the first time since the City has owned the Center that we have had to close due to a natural disaster. Let us hope we don't have this happen again any time soon.
As we have done each year, our pool will be closed for a short time for annual maintenance, so please be sure to check the flyers at the desk for exact dates and times. We are in the process of upgrading and adding security cameras around the facility, which will also facilitate the front desk staff with viewing of the tennis courts.
The fitness department has had a few staffing changes. Andrea Gaona is our new fitness coordinator and has been doing a great job in communicating and helping out the staff. We have also added some new instructors and they seem to be doing very well. We will be discussing the fitness schedule for the New Year so if anyone has any suggestions please feel free to let us know. We are always open to new ideas for classes. Please email any suggestions to dgonzales@cityofcalabasas.com .
I want to wish everyone Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year! Come on out to the center and let's get fit in the New Year! Hope to see you soon!
Sincerely,
Recreation Manager

Top Seed Tennis Academy

Hello Members,
All of us at Top Seed Tennis Academy hope that you and your families are all safe and getting back to normal after a tough month with the recent fires and tragedies that took place in our community. The club symbolizes a place for us to come together, play tennis, work out and enjoy one another. Speaking of enjoyment, our junior tennis academy has had one of the most successful years ever. The summer camp and current after school clinics are all close to capacity and we are very grateful for the tremendous amount of support! We will continue to improve our product with innovative coaching ideas, enhanced training of our staff and the development of new drills for the different levels of kids.
Once again, we are planning the 2019 USTA Pro Tennis Championships of Calabasas. The tournament is a $25,000 men's pro tennis tournament in which some of the top tennis players in the world have competed over the last 15 years. From John Isner and Kevin Anderson who are both top 10 in the world on the ATP tour, Mike and Bob Bryan who have been number 1 in doubles countless times in the last 15 years, as well as recent younger players like Frances Tiafoe, Taylor Fritz, Tennys Sandgren and Sam Querrey (who grew up playing at Top Seed for most of his junior career). All the aforementioned players are currently ranked in the top 70 on the ATP tour. As years in the past we need your help to make the tournament a success - Sponsorships are the only way we can continue to bring such a wonderful event to our club. For more information about sponsoring this year's tournament please contact me at Steve@topseed.us or Jeff Richards at Jeff@topseed.us.
Finally, I would like to thank all the front desk and office staff, maintenance, lifeguards, personal trainers, cafĂ© staff, our Recreation Manager Debbie Gonzales, and finally our Top Seed Tennis staff. Specifically the following people: Brady Hiete - Tennis Director, Jason Gaona - Head Professional and League Coordinator, Jeff Richards - Social and Tournament Director, Marvin Martinez - Maintenance Director, and Terri Secondino - Business Coordinator for Top Seed Tennis Academy. We are looking forward to an even better 2019 and will do everything to continue making the Calabasas Tennis and Swim Center feel like a second home for all of you!
Sincerely,
Steve McAvoy
