CALDWELL COUGARS ALUMNI NEWS

February 2026

A NOTE FROM THE DESK OF...

Andrew Engel

Executive Director, Institutional Advancement

After a brief pause, I am pleased to share that Caldwell Cougars Alumni News is back. Beginning this February, our alumni newsletter will be delivered quarterly and will serve as a consistent way to keep you connected to campus, our progress, and one another.

There is a great deal happening at Caldwell University. From new academic partnerships and athletic milestones to alumni achievements and campus events, the momentum is real. Our alumni community continues to distinguish itself in education, healthcare, business, public service, and beyond, and we are proud to highlight those accomplishments here.

I encourage you to review the calendar of upcoming events included below and register for those that interest you. In particular, I hope you will join us on March 17 for Servant Leadership: What It Means as a Catholic, a special talk with Cardinal Joseph W. Tobin. It promises to be a meaningful evening for our community.

This newsletter is not meant to be one directional. We want to hear from you. Please share your updates, milestones, and ideas for engagement. Staying connected to our alumni is a priority, and I look forward to seeing many of you on campus in the months ahead.

Anthony Grosso Named Dean for Student Life

Anthony joined Caldwell University in 2024 with over 20 years in public education.

Holding a BFA and an MA in Educational Leadership from Montclair State University, Anthony previously served as a teacher, principal, and superintendent in several New Jersey school districts. His leadership in these roles fostered supportive learning environments that catered to the diverse needs of students, guiding them through critical stages of their academic development.

As a superintendent, Anthony collaborated with Caldwell University, where he helped establish a dual enrollment program. This initiative enabled high school students to experience college-level coursework before graduating, providing students with a head start in higher education.

ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT

Linda Sue Galate Ph.D, '66

Linda Sue Galate Ph.D presented her research entitled, Breakfast With the Resurrected One: Resolution of a late 2nd century Roman catacomb fresco.  It was part of the Places of Images in Christian Spaces panel at Villanova University for the 50th Annual International Patristic, Medieval and Renaissance Studies Conference, October 24-26, 2025.

The theme was Mysticism, Mystery, and Trinitarian Life in times of Crisis. The solution to the singular and puzzling fresco, first mentioned in 1903 as the feeding of the five thousand and then left dormant until now, resolves one of the more challenging Early Christian frescoes to date."
