A message from your District Administrator

Dear School District of Wisconsin Dells Community Members,

Happy New Year! I hope this newsletter finds you well and optimistic about the new year! The turn of the calendar signifies the arrival of 2023 and a fresh calendar year. The first portion of the 2022-23 school year has flown by, and the end of the first semester will take place for high school students on January 20, 2023. As has been mentioned in previous newsletters, the District is emphasizing and encouraging all students to demonstrate regular attendance and more importantly being engaged each day in their learning. To date, the District’s student body is demonstrating increased daily attendance and engagement. Keep up the good work!

2023-24 SCHOOL CALENDAR APPROVED, BUDGET FORECAST, STAFFING LEVELS

One item of business that was taken care of in December was the approval of the 2023-24 school calendar. Thank you to all employees and parents who provided feedback to help shape the look of next year’s school calendar. As you will see, it is pretty similar to previous years’ calendars. Please note a few important “save the dates”, if you will. Thursday, August 3, 2023 will be all-school registration. Tuesday, September 5, 2023 will be the first day of classes, and the District will utilize a “soft” opening with students with last names A-L beginning that Tuesday followed by students with last names M-Z beginning on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, with all students attending classes on Thursday, September 7, 2022. The calendar outlines all early release dates highlighted in orange, and all vacation days highlighted in red. Finally, here’s a quick link to the 2023-24 calendar.

In late January the District will begin outlining the 2023-24 budget forecast. With a new biennium budget in the works, there are many unknown variables. Nonetheless, we will utilize the best data that we have at hand to provide at the very least a preliminary budget forecast. I anticipate the biennium budget process to drag into next fall, and as variables are decided, the District will update and refine its own budget status. ...READ MORE

ACT fast approaching for WDHS juniors

Over 500 Items Donated to WDMS Holiday Food Drive

Throughout the month of December, the WDMS Student Council hosted a Holiday Food Drive where students and staff brought in items to help support our local food pantry. SDWD welcomes Special Olympics and Unified Champion Chapters

We are excited to announce that the SDWD now has Special Olympics and Unified Champion chapters. Many people are familiar with Special Olympics, but not all realize the impact this organization has made in the lives of so many individuals with intellectual disabilities. Special Olympics (SO) was founded in 1968 and strives to foster a better community through the inclusion and acceptance of all people. Since its beginning in 1968, SO has continued to expand finding ways to build inclusive communities.
