  • May 14 Fit to Serve Spring Garden Event
  • On Saturday, May 14th Fit to Serve will be hosting our 2nd Annual Spring Garden Celebration at the Fit-2-Serve Community Garden, located at 520 South 5th Place in Mattoon. Join for games, crafts, a book reading, and more. Learn about our family garden plots. Let's grow something beautiful.


  • May 14 SBLHC Races for all Paces at EIU
  • This Saturday from 7 am– 11am Races for All Paces will be at EIU. There will be a 1 mile run/walk, 5K, 10K and the toughest Half-Marathon in the region. Event takes places at EIU's O'Brien Stadium in Charleston. For more information go to:  www.sarahbush.org/races


  • May 14 Artworks in Downtown Mattoon
  • Artworks Festival is back. Artisans, Artwork, Make & Takes, Live Music & Food Trucks This will be the 9th annual festival produced by the Mattoon Arts Council. It will be held downtown Mattoon at Heritage Park and bandshell, The Train Depot (Lone Elm Room). Artworks is Free and Open to the public.


  • May 14 Gardenfest in Lytle Park
  • Gardenfest, formerly Herbfest, is the kick off to the gardening season. Join at Lytle Park May 14th, 2022. Open from 9an-12pm or while supplies last. Vendors will have plants and plant related items. For information call 217-258-6286 or email [email protected].


  • May 14 Class Pack Car Club car show
  • This annual event is in Peterson Park, 500 Broadway this Saturday May 14th. Registration is 9am-noon.  Cost of registration is only $15.  Awards at 2pm.  Many awards given including Best of Show and Top 25. Rain or Shine.  Proceeds to benefit the Mattoon Food Pantry and Corn Belt Shriners. 


  • May 14 Omega Nu Epsilon Sigma Alpha Daddy Daughter Dance to benefit St. Jude's Children's
  • Enjoy a night of laughter and music while supporting St. Jude's Children Research Hospital. Hosted by Omega Nu - Epsilon Sigma Alpha. The evening will have music and dancing, plus a photo booth. A dessert bar will be provided. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. Price is per family. Tickets available online until Friday, May 13 and then the night of the event.
