Bumble Bee Atlas volunteers searching for bees in the hills of California

Let's catch some bees!

Hello and Happy New Year from the California Bumble Bee Atlas! We are excited to be working on plans for the 2025 field season, and would be thrilled to have you join us this year. As in previous years, we'll offer online training workshops this spring, in-person field events around the state through the summer, and some other fun webinars about bumble bees. The field season will start on the same dates as last year (March-May, depending on your location). We'll be contacting you soon with news about the project and all of these events.

Highlights from 2024

We have now completed identification of all bee observations submitted to Bumble Bee Watch in 2024! It was a very productive year, with more than 7,600 individual observations made, bringing our total to more than 18,000 bees documented across the three years of the project. We are working on some visualizations and summaries, and will post these to our website in the coming weeks.

Your Personal Report for 2024

You can view a personal report of your Bumble Bee Watch submissions at BumbleBeeWatch.org! Your personal report includes an overview of the species you've encountered, where and when you've collected data, and more. You can see stats for all of your efforts over time, or filter to just one year of observations.

To view your "Year In Review" page, log in to Bumble Bee Watch and navigate to your profile. Click the "View Your Year In Review" button at the top right-hand corner of your profile page, which will take you to your "Year In Review" for the current year. Then, choose "2024" (or "All time" for all of your data) to see your summary.

Do you still have data to submit from last year? It's not too late! We'll continue to make IDs of bumble bee observations as time allows, and they'll appear in your personal report after they have "Verified" status.

More updates soon!

Stay tuned for more updates from the California Bumble Bee Atlas. On behalf of the Atlas team, thanks for being a part of the project!
