2020 has tested our resolve.
We've been battered by a pandemic, raging wildfires, unhealthy air, and divisive national politics.
But we've shown again this year that Contra Costa County and Bay Area is determined to fight for clean air! I am proud to join you in this fight.
As co-Chair of Bay Area Clean Air Day, I thank all of you who joined us and more than 1.5 million others in taking action on Clean Air Day California on October 7, 2020.
Even in the midst of a global pandemic and the worst wildfires our state has ever seen, we more than doubled our efforts from 2019. We stood up for clean air!
In it, we noted:
"Clean air is our right, not a privilege ... Unfortunately, too many Californians, especially communities of color, suffer severe health impacts from breathing unhealthy air."
As a member of California's Air Resources Board and the Bay Area Air Quality Management District Board, I fight climate change and to improve the health of the air we breathe.
When we act individually, our actions might seem small, but when we act in concert with each other we can make a real impact on air quality. Everything starts with each of us!
