California Consulting is proud to announce that our team has successfully secured $40,375,000 in funding for four outstanding school district clients through the California Community Schools Partnership Program (CCSPP). This highly competitive program, administered by the California Department of Education, provides critical resources to help school districts transform their campuses into community schools—offering a wide range of integrated student supports, expanded learning opportunities, and family engagement programs.

The CCSPP grants promote equity-driven partnerships between schools and their communities to support the whole child. Funding can be used for wellness centers, mental health services, academic support, staff training, and other wraparound services that help boost student success both inside and outside the classroom.

California Consulting Management Assistant Caitlin Williams is our presence in the Nation's Capital and will regularly meet with federal agencies in DC to monitor federal grant opportunities and keep updated on federal grant activities.

She recently met with the Office of Congresswoman Nanette Barragán, the Office of Representative Jimmy Gomez, and the Office of Congresswoman Young Kim to discuss federal grant opportunities and how they can support local agencies and communities in California.

School Violence Prevention Program (SVPP)

Deadline: Grants.gov: June 18th, JustGrants: June 26th

Amount: up to $500,000

Match: 25% minimum

SVPP funding will provide up to 75% funding for the following school safety measures in and around K-12 (primary and secondary) schools and school grounds:

• “Coordination with law enforcement”
• “Training for local law enforcement officers to prevent student violence against others and self”
• “Metal detectors, locks, lighting, and other deterrent measures”
• “Technology for expedited notification of local law enforcement during an emergency”
• “Any other measure that the COPS Office determines may provide a significant improvement in security”

The following school safety measures are available through the Bureau of Justice Assistance’s (BJA’s) section of the STOP School Violence Act of 2018:

• Development and operation of anonymous reporting systems
• Hotlines
• Internet websites
• Mobile telephone applications
• Development and operation of a school threat assessment
• Specialized training for school officials in responding to mental health crises
• Training for school personnel and students to prevent student violence against others and self
• Any other measure the BJA determines may provide a significant improvement in security

CDE: Learning Communities for School Success Program

Deadline: June 20, 2025

Amount: $50 per year, per student enrolled in the LEA, with a minimum of $30,000 and a

maximum of $2 million per LEA/consortium

Duration: 3 years beginning August 2025

Matching requirements: 20% cash or in-kind

Purpose: for planning, implementation, and evaluation of activities in support of evidence-

based, nonpunitive programs and practices to keep the state’s most vulnerable pupils in school.

These activities shall complement or enhance the actions and services identified in the LCAP.

Examples include:

• Establishing a community school, as defined in EC Section 33435. “Community school” means a public school that participates in a community-based effort to coordinate and integrate educational, developmental, family, health, and other comprehensive services through community-based organizations and public and private partnerships with one or more community partners for the delivery of community services that may be provided at a school site to pupils, families, and community members.
• Implementing activities or programs to improve attendance and reduce chronic absenteeism, including, but not limited to, early warning systems or early intervention programs.
•  Implementing restorative practices, restorative justice models, or other programs to improve retention rates, reduce suspensions and other school removals, and reduce the referral of pupils to law enforcement agencies.
• Implementing activities that advance social-emotional learning, positive behavior interventions and supports, culturally responsive practices, and trauma-informed strategies.
• Establishing partnerships with community-based organizations or other relevant entities to support the implementation of evidence-based, nonpunitive approaches to further the goals of the program. 
• Adding or increasing staff within an LEA whose primary purpose is to address ongoing chronic attendance problems, including, but not necessarily limited to, conducting outreach to families and children currently, or at risk of becoming, chronically truant. 
• Establishing programs or activities addressing significant community-wide crime problem by implementing interventions addressing the negative impact of the high crime rate on students.
• Programs raising awareness of the effects of chronic absenteeism on young children
