Inspired…motivated…driven. This is how I feel when returning from National Convention; I feel this way after State Conference as well. The Board is deeply committed to providing opportunities to all the members to learn and grow within the field. I’m sure you’ve noticed the plethora of learning opportunities and those will continue into 2023.

Community Outreach Events

On Friday, August 12, some AMTA members came together for the 14th Annual Family Day at Del Mar Beach, Camp Pendleton. We provided massages to the Marines and their families. At the end of the day, we got to massage Retired Major Billy Hall who served in WWII, Korean and Vietnam! What a day it was to give back and receive so much gratitude for our time with these Marines and their families. I hope you will join us next year.

On Saturday, October 15, MS Bay to Bay Ride, Carlsbad (San Diego). This was our first AMTA CA sponsored, Community Outreach event. Thirteen AMTA CA massage therapists came together to reward the TOP 150 fundraisers who were expecting to meet us at the finish line.
This annual event begins in Irvine (Orange County) making the 100-mile ride along the Pacific Coast Highway, through Camp Pendleton, and making its completion for the day near LEGOLAND and/or finishing at Mission Bay on Sunday.

While AMTA CA massage therapists were busy at the MS Bay to Bay Ride in San Diego, more of our members were busy at the Best Buddies Challenge – Hearst Castle, which was hosted at Skywalker Ranch due to Covid issues. This was another century (100 mile) bike ride. It’s pretty clear, massage therapists are a much welcomed at the end of a 100-mile ride!
We love that our members give back to the community in participating at events from organizations or causes YOU want to be involved with. Please let us know what Community Outreach events you would like to see us participate in. Give us enough time to take care of our logistics, and we may be able to support you and your cause. Send your suggestions to info@amta-ca.org.

The Interstate Massage Therapy Compact (IMpact)
|
|
Have you heard about the Interstate Massage Therapy Compact? The Council of State Governments (CSG) is partnering with the Department of Defense (DoD) and the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards (FSMTB) to support the mobility of licensed massage therapists through the development of a new interstate compact. This additional licensing pathway will create reciprocity among participant states and reduce the barriers to license portability. Read more about IMpact by connecting to the link above.

National Government Relations is doing a series of webinars. Each of these free webinars will be about an hour in length, be recorded live with a Q & A following the presentation. Each presentation will be posted to our Chapter website with and included FAQ. Even if you missed the Live presentation, you will be able to watch at your leisure and if you have any questions, you can send those to our National GR Team (James Specker, Christine Hoober, and Martha Rinker). The Q & A will be updated with each webinar.
These webinars are free and are open to all within the profession. You do need to register for each LIVE webinar through Cvent.
The first session, The Difference between Certification and Licensure, was held Wednesday, September 21. The second, How to Advocate on a Grassroot Level (This is GR 101), was held October 12. Both recordings should be posted, along with the Q & A, to the Chapter website soon.
Again, these webinars will be recorded. If you have questions, even after the webinar has aired, you can send your questions to grinfo@amtamassage.org
