As of this writing, the deadly Camp Fire in Butte County CA has killed at least 77 people, burned over 125,000 acres and destroyed more than 7,746 structures, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. Nearly 1,000 people remain missing. Many of the people unaccounted for are older and may have mobility issues that complicated their escape from the firestorm.
The Butte County Sheriff's Office has activated a call center to respond to reports of people missing in the Camp Fire. Anyone with a missing family member, or those who have located a missing person, can call 530-538-6570, 530-538-7544 or 530-538-7671.
In addition, two blazes in Southern California's Ventura County are continuing to burn. The rain forecast for later this week may help extinguish the fire but may also trigger mudslides.
