Celebration of the Whales

Sunday, April 7 from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

Channel Islands Harbor, Oxnard, CA

This year’s event will feature a concert in the park, a community “paint a whale” mural project, chalk art, shopping, a children’s fun zone, and more. Activities will be held at the Channel Islands Maritime Museum, the Channel Islands Harbor Farmers Market, and a “Gray Whale Migration Trail” that runs through Harbor View Park that connects the two activity centers.

Santa Barbara Earth Day Festival

Saturday, April 27 from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm

The Santa Barbara Earth Day Festival is a two-day community gathering with live music, local food, and 200+ exhibitors inviting guests to learn about climate change, eco-friendly alternative products, electric cars, stewardship of the natural world, with a special area for kids’ programming. California Marine Sanctuary Foundation will host a booth in the Public Square area, where visitors can learn about the Protecting Blue Whales and Blue Skies program, sign a thank you card for Ambassadors, and create marine-themed art!

Snapshot Day 2024: Volunteers Needed!

Join us for the 24th Annual Snapshot Day to collect water quality samples from your local streams!


May 4th from 8:30am-12:30pm


This sanctuary-wide event provides a one-day "snapshot" of the health of the rivers and streams that flow into Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. Join the thousands of volunteers that have participated in this program since its inception to collect water quality samples and field measurements from streams in your area. The volunteers collecting this valuable information play a key role in our community as stewards of our watersheds.


Attending one training session is required to participate and anyone under 18 must have a mode of transportation and a guardian to sign forms for their participation.
