Helping Homeowners

CA Mortgage Relief in the Community

The California Mortgage Relief Program has partnered with several Community-Based Organizations to provide locally based outreach and application assistance. The two we are highlighting today are the West Modesto Community Collaborative and Homeownership SF, as both of these partners have gone above and beyond to assist California homeowners in need.

The West Modesto Community Collaborative assists applicants with eligibility checks, document preparation and uploading, application completion, technology troubleshooting and general support during the application review process.

Homeownership SF provides community members with a free session with a HUD-Certified housing counselor to assist them in understanding options if they are having trouble making mortgage payments. They help to educate their community members and assist in the application process for the California Mortgage Relief Program.

Both organizations are a critical part of the Program’s outreach efforts and have helped countless homeowners with valuable application assistance.

Community-based efforts are especially important for connecting vulnerable populations to program resources and ensuring potential applicants have the information they need to apply for assistance.

Locally based application assistance may be available in your area. Please click here to learn more about each of the Community-Based Organizations supporting the California Mortgage Relief Program.

Thank you to all our community partners for your hard work!

About the California Mortgage Relief Program

While the COVID-19 pandemic has affected millions of Americans and created turmoil for homeowners, California received relief funds from the American Rescue Plan Act’s Homeowner Assistance Fund. Homeowners who have fallen behind on their housing payments due to pandemic-related financial hardship can use these funds to get caught up.

The California Mortgage Relief Program is being provided to homeowners through the CalHFA Homeowner Relief Corporation.
