California Retailers Association Announces the Launch of the California Retailers for Environmental Innovation Coalition
Coalition's primary goal is to collaborate with lawmakers and regulatory agencies to make California’s retail sector a model for sustainable innovation nationwide
(Sacramento, CA) -- The California Retailers Association (CRA) announced today the official launch of the California Retailers for Environmental Innovation, a transformative coalition dedicated to advancing sustainability and environmental leadership within the state's retail sector.
The California Retailers for Environmental Innovation brings together retailers, service providers, local governments and industry partners to shape California’s complex environmental policy landscape through collaborative and practical solutions. This strategic coalition leverages collective expertise and advocacy to address issues ranging from sustainable packaging and textile recovery to e-waste management and extended producer responsibility (EPR) programs, always with consumer affordability at the forefront.
"The coalition’s mission is to balance environmental progress with business pragmatism ensuring California's regulations boost sustainability without creating financial burdens for consumers or retailers," said Rachel Michelin, President and CEO of the California Retailers Association. "By joining forces, members can actively influence public policies, participate in critical discussions with lawmakers and regulatory agencies and showcase industry-defining leadership in environmental innovation.
In addition to the coalition launch, CRA is excited to announce the hiring of Rachel Wagoner, former CalRecycle Director, who will help steer the Environmental Coalition mission, goals and objectives including providing strategic insight on legislation and regulatory issues through the lens of her decades of experience working on some of California's most critical environmental policies.
