Berendos No. 23 Sisters

American Patriotism Committee of CFIC

Grand Secretary and State Chair

The American Patriotism Committee of CFIC sponsored a Memorial Day Challenge to the Parlors. Parlors were encouraged to submit pictures of Parlor members participating in a Memorial Day event in their Community. The pictures would go into a drawing for a prize for the winning Parlor. The American Patriotism Committee received 2 photo submissions. Oakdale Parlor No. 125, Oakdale, and Berendos Parlor No. 23, Red Bluff.

Six Parlor Sisters from Oakdale Parlor met at Citizen's Cemetary on Memorial Day, May 25, 2026 to pay tribute to their departed Sisters. They then proceeded to the Oaklawn Cemetery and read the names of their Sisters who are laid to rest at that facility.

The Sisters from Berendos Parlor met and put up flags at Veteran's Circle at Oak Hill Cemetery in Red Bluff, Ca., on Memorial Day 2026. Pictured are President D'Lorah Hurton, Financial Secretary Kathy Sibert, Trustee Carol Mieske, Marshal Janet Russell and Past President Christine Rainwater.

Since there were only 2 photo entries in the contest, the American Patriotism Committee decided to award both Parlors. A letter congratulating and thanking each parlor was sent by GS Christine Lewis, State Chairman of the American Patriotism Committee along with a $50 gift certificate for Baskin Robbins Ice Cream to be used to treat the Parlor members.

Oakdale No. 125 Sisters

NDGW and NSGW Joint Memorial Day Service in Golden Gate Park

Location: North side of John F. Kennedy Drive near 16th Avenue (Doughboy Meadow).

Statue Dedication: June 1, 1930 (featuring the bronze Doughboy holding a wreath, sculpted by M. Earl Cummings).

Current Plaque Date: June 3, 1951 (updated to include World War II fallen members, replacing the original 1930 plaque).

Grace No. 242 Gifts California State Flag to Catalina Island Company

Grand Trustee and Past Grand President

During a visit to Catalina Island, members of Grace Parlor No. 242 noticed a lack of California State flags flying at key tourist locations. Recognizing the island's high volume of visitors, the Parlor saw an opportunity to enhance the tourist experience and proudly celebrate California's rich heritage.

Through the support of the American Patriotism Committee, Grace Parlor took action to fill this gap. Pictured above, Grand Trustee and Past Grand President Sherry Farley presented an official California flag to Grayson Kline, the Senior Manager of Operations at the Catalina Island Company in front of the iconic Catalina Casino.

In addition to the flag, Kline received a California State flag pin and a copy of the "Flags Over California" brochure. This historical booklet details the imagery and background of the various flags that have flown over the state since 1542. The presentation marks a meaningful effort to uphold the charitable mission of the Sisterhood and keep California forefront for all who visit the island.

NDGW Childrens Foundation Sponsor Foster Youth to Soar Toward Hope!

Leadership and Marine Education Summit Recap

⁠NDGW Childrens Foundation and SOAR for Youth partnered with ⁠Call of the Sea to sponsor a leadership and marine education summit aboard traditional sailing vessels. Foster youth participated in hands-on seamanship like hoisting main sails, building confidence, teamwork, and leadership skills on San Francisco Bay.

The summit not only enriched the participants' understanding of marine life and sailing but also fostered personal growth and a sense of community among the youth.
