Memorial Day - May 25th

From the Grand President...

Dear Members,

As the term comes to an end, I wish to thank you.

Thank you for your continued membership in the Native Daughters of the Golden West. For it is our Members and their dedication to our charities that continue our philanthropic goals. We must continue to strive to gain new Members to continue our journey of greatness.

It has been my pleasure to serve as your Grand President this term, and I thank you for all you have done to make my year so pleasant.

To the members who have served as State Chairman, Program Managers, committee members and Deputy Grand President’s an extra special thank you for stepping up to do what is needed to keep our Order alive.

In Sisterly love,

Grand President Heidi Dillon

50th Anniversary of the California Poppy Reserve

Submitted by Sherry Farley, PGP

The California Poppy Reserve celebrated its 50th Anniversary with a special event on April 24th recognizing the enduring beauty of the poppies and the invaluable contributions of many, including the Native Daughters of the Golden West.

The Native Daughters of the Golden West have played a pivotal role in supporting the California Poppy Reserve since its inception. Their early advocacy and contributions are immortalized in two stunning stained glass windows (pictured above with P.G.P. Debi Stalder) that adorn the Reserve's Jane S. Pinheiro Interpretive Center. These windows, along with a viewing bench donated by our organization, not only beautify the space but also serve as a testament to the Order's commitment to preserving California's natural heritage. As the poppies continue to captivate visitors, the Native Daughters' legacy remains an integral part of the Reserve's history.

PARLORS IN ACTION...

Oakdale No. 125

Our Parlor made a donation to the Blue Star Moms, Oakdale Chapter.

We had a really nice “Sister’s Get Together” at the beautiful home of our

newest member, Violet Mondragon. Her hospitality and food were just

over the top! We each got to take home a generous jar of delicious honey.

We are excited to have over four new members since the beginning of the year.

The next event will be a visit to the local cemeteries on Memorial Day to honor

our Departed Sisters.

May 30, 2026 we will gather with Joaquin Parlor No. 5 for our Welcome Home Luncheon to honor our Grand President Heidi Dillon.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the Native Daughters who generously contributed to the Adopt a Classroom Program. Because of your kindness and support, teachers and students in our community will receive much-needed classroom supplies and educational resources.

During Adopt a Classroom’s special three-day matching event, every donation made had an even greater impact through matching funds. We are thrilled to report that the event was a BIG SUCCESS! Your generosity helped maximize donations and greatly increased the support available for our local classrooms.

The following teachers and schools benefited from your support:

  • Ms. James — Sheridan Elementary School
  • Jennifer Faanunu — Carlin C. Coppin Elementary School
  • Mrs. Vargas Kindergarten Class — First Street School

Thanks to your dedication to education and helping children succeed, these classrooms will receive valuable educational materials and supplies to enrich student learning. Your continued support shows the true spirit of community service and caring that the Native Daughters represent so well.

Although the matching event has ended, it is not too late to donate. We encourage donations all year long, as every contribution — large or small — continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of teachers and students.

If you would like to donate, please mail your contribution to:

On behalf of the teachers, students, and families who benefit from this program, thank you again for making this event such a tremendous success.
