California Winter Storms Update

Winter storms continue to impact communities across California, with localized flooding, road closures — including parts of Highway 1 — park closures and power outages disrupting travel in some areas. Visit California is working closely with the California Office of Emergency Services, the state Department of Transportation and other authorities to respond to the developing situation, and is updating its travel advisory as the situation develops.

As of this writing, the storms have most strongly impacted Northern and Central California. President Biden’s emergency declaration and dramatic images, such as those of sea swells in Santa Cruz County, are generating national headlines. It should be noted that the emergency declaration does not directly indicate the severity of the crisis but frees federal agencies to coordinate a crisis response should the need arise.

With the dispute resolved, HFTP and AHLA have agreed to a 10-year partnership to produce USALI.
