CWA Statewide Meeting

September 8th - 10th, 2023

Greetings all,

Lots in the works getting ready for CWA's September SWM and BBQ. Our 46-year partnership with Fresno State's Ag One is hosting a BBQ, a live auction, CWA's commodity store, and a silent auction. This is CWA's major fundraising event. We'll be at the Panoche Creek River Ranch, a spectacular location, hoping for a succe$$ful day.  Hope all chapters are getting their baskets packet, gathering silent auction items and getting commodity donations ready to go!

September is also the meeting where the ballot for the 2024 slate of elected state officers is presented. CWA's election process is noted in the 2320 September Compass (available below). Thank you to the Nominating Committee and chairperson, Marit Arant, for their work.

Our bylaws and OPP are in need of more than 'red line' edits. There are areas that are not in compliance with current nonprofit laws, or up to date with social media advances, in some cases contradictory and they need to be redone.  In order to bring CWA up to date, at the September SWM we will be considering and voting on engaging an attorney specializing in nonprofit organization bylaws, processes, and procedures.

Celebrating our Chapters

One of CWA's projects this summer is to connect with each chapter. Debra Stroschein, CWA President elect, will be visiting chapters and gathering information to showcase each chapter's accomplishments. As we all learn about what's happening in other chapters, we benefit from sharing each other's successes!

We will be utilizing the information for a number of projects: updating the CWA biennial report, sharing in the weekly PNL, posting on the website and

promoting CWA chapter's accomplishments via PR opportunities.

We are asking each chapter 5 questions:

  1. What is your signature event?

   2. Scholarships--What kind of scholarships do you give out (only agriculture related majors)?  Do you have memorial scholarships?  Do you have any outstanding past recipients?

   3.  Do you have any special events to build membership?

   4.  History perspective – Do you have any charter members?  If so, who are they?  Do you have any past state presidents in your chapter?  If so, who are they?  Get pictures of them.

   5. What is unique about your chapter and what contributes to its longevity?

   Be sure to include pictures!
