Rain kinda sucks to ride in, but there are times we get stuck out on the road or just have to get somewhere and endure it. When you do, don’t get freaked out, just ride a bit differently than you normally would. Take the turns less aggressively, apply the brakes and throttle smoothly and be aware of other vehicles. You still have traction, just less of it.

When it rains here in Southern California car drivers lose their minds. They simply don’t know how to handle it, so it makes situational awareness even more important. Riding in the rain is really no big deal if you wear the proper rain gear, ride smoothly and stay aware. It can actually be fun!

I used to test the limits of traction when I rode in the rain because it was easier to do so than when it was dry. Crazy, yes, and I do not suggest you do this! I was an upcoming road racer, and I would ride on the edge way too often.

If you have to ride when the roads are wet just relax and use your head.

First Ride: Ducati’s Diavel V4 Defies Categorization

Is it a cruiser or something else?

When does a former Cycle World Ten Best–winning cruiser become something other than a cruiser? Ducati’s Diavel has always been right at the bleeding edge of the segment. Ducati has called it a power cruiser—at least in its communications with the motorcycling public. Behind closed doors in Borgo Panigale, it’s called “Mega Monster.” After a short but intense first ride in Abu Dhabi, that’s the most apt description of the 2023 Diavel V4. So what is it then? It’s mega-confusing, in the best way.
