The Southwest California Synod supports congregations, institutions, and agencies through two grant programs.
The Endowment Committee awards grant for Mission Outreach from The Mission and Ministry Fund to be used for mission outreach as defined in the synod's mission goals. Typically, grants range from $500 to $5,000.
The
Charles and Mable Warner Trust Fund, administered by the Executive Committee of the Synod Council, awards grants designated for the construction of Sunday School facilities and to further youth Christian education. Typically, grants range from $1,000 to $5,000, pending availability of funds.
Grant applications must be postmarked no later than February 15 2019.
In order for an application to be considered by the committee, a congregational parochial report for 2018 must be on file.
Grant awards will be announced at the 2019 Synod Assembly, taking place May 30 - June 1 on the campus of California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks.
The Grant award instructions are intended to streamline the process and
provide greater insight into the critical qualitative elements required in grant application development. Please note the emphasis on Multi-Congregational Collaboration in considering grant awards.
Both the Allocation and Endowment Committees require feedback regarding status and impact of prior year grant awards via a required letter to be submitted to the Allocations Committee on or before a subsequent grant application submittal. No exceptions are given for not complying with this grant mandate. Per grant criteria directive, a three-year suspension from grant awards will be imposed on congregations or ministries who fail to comply with the required timely letter submittal.
