Nomination Guidelines
Before you start completing the online nomination form, make sure to read
the Award Nomination Guidelines. This year we are doing nominations in two phases. Please review so that you know which documents, details, and letters of recommendation are necessary to complete the online nomination form in Phase 1 & 2. Gather all these documents at your earliest convenience after completing the first phase.

Full Nomination Form (Phase 2) - Deadline 6-3-21
After membership eligibility has been verified you will complete a second form that asks for a Letter of Nomination, Letters of Recommendation, CV/Resume, Educational Philosophy (educator award), evidence of Research (researcher award).
All nominees must have at least 5 years of continuous NDEO Membership either as
a Professional member or as a main contact on an Institutional Membership,
or a combination of the two.
Four (4) National Awards
  • Lifetime Achievement: The NDEO Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to a member of the National Dance Education Organization for exemplary leadership, research, scholarship and/or artistry, and philanthropy or service to dance education. The honoree will have contributed to the field of dance education at the national and/or international levels for a period of at least fifteen (15) years. The Lifetime Achievement Award is the most prestigious award the organization confers.

  • Outstanding Leadership: This award is given to an NDEO member who has demonstrated excellence in creating ideas for programs, curriculum, and/or projects that have had a significant impact on the field of dance education and who has demonstrated leadership on a national level.

  • Outstanding Dance Educator (Higher Education): This award acknowledges a stellar NDEO member who teaches in the College / University setting. This award is granted on a yearly rotating basis to a dance educator from a different teaching environment each year. The recipient of this award should inspire and motivate their students and have a significant impact in their school's community.

  • Outstanding Dance Education Researcher: This award recognizes an NDEO member who has made a unique contribution to the field of dance education through creative and/or scholarly research. The recipient of this award should cultivate the importance of scholarly and creative research throughout the field of dance education.
