Dear PT and PTA Students of Alabama,


As future physical therapists, your involvement in the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) as a student is not only a valuable experience but also an essential step in your professional development.

Executive Council Positions

We are currently seeking enthusiastic and dedicated students to fill positions on the SIG Executive Council. Detailed descriptions of the roles and responsibilities are included in the attached document. Some of the key positions available are:

  • Chair: Prepare agendas, preside over meetings, manage ALSSIG reports in line with APTA Alabama, serve as spokesperson, foster growth, act as liaison, oversee communication, manage the social media presence, and oversee the Student Conclave Committee and alumni relationships.
  • Serve as the Student Council Representative and attend all Student Council virtual and in person meetings. The 2027 in person meeting will take place in February 2027 at APTA CSM in Philadelphia, PA. APTA Alabama will fund your attendance to the Student Council meeting.
  • Vice Chair: Assume duties of the Chair if absent, aid in managing the nomination process, oversee student programming at conferences, support committees, assist with social media, create promotional materials, and promote networking opportunities.
  • Assist with budget development, track spending, provide financial reports, submit reimbursement forms, maintain the ALSSIG calendar, document and share meeting minutes, maintain communication, and develop fundraising opportunities.
  • Director at Large: Brand physical therapy in the community, create and publicize community service opportunities, schedule social events, manage the social media presence, and organize networking and athletic activities at events.
  • PTA Director: Enhance the relationship between PT and PTA students, assist in managing social media, and ensure PTA student needs are addressed at meetings and events.
  • Student Conclave Chair: Collaborate with the Chair and APTA Alabama Education Committee to develop a student-centered conference, work on social event logistics, recruit and schedule volunteers.
