Help Shape the Conversation

The call for abstract submissions for the 13th biennial Bay-Delta Science Conference is now open.

The Bay-Delta Science Conference brings together scientists, practitioners, managers, artists, and community members to share knowledge and advance the Delta Science Program’s mission to provide the best possible, unbiased, science-based information for water and environmental decision-making in the Bay-Delta system. This year’s theme, “The Opportunity of Change: Building and Being the Future Together,” encourages participants to build new partnerships, move beyond silos, and engage diverse perspectives and ways of knowing. The conference will be held in person at the SAFE Credit Union Convention Center in Sacramento, CA, from September 28-30, 2026.

The planning team welcomes abstract submissions for organized sessions and workshops, as well as oral and poster presentations, particularly proposals that use an alternative format to facilitate dialogue and discussion, engage the audience, or integrate art and humanities to embody the conference’s theme.

Abstract submissions are due by May 29, 2026, and may be submitted via the Bay-Delta Science Conference website at the link below.

A separate call for art will be released soon.

Join us this fall!

"Science is only as powerful as our ability to communicate and apply it," says Delta Stewardship Council Deputy Executive Officer for Science Henry DeBey. "This conference brings critical Bay-Delta science to life – turning knowledge and connection into action. We welcome abstract submissions from across disciplines, including science, art, and storytelling, and encourage students, scientists, engineers, artists, managers, policymakers, and anyone interested in Bay-Delta science to join us this fall."

Learn more about science communication.

Communication is essential to building the Delta science community and delivering pertinent information to scientists, decision-makers, the public, and more. Effective science communication transforms information into knowledge and knowledge into action. One way that the Delta Stewardship Council supports science communication is by hosting or co-hosting events, like the Bay-Delta Science Conference, that highlight research findings and provide important networking opportunities.
