Dear ISPE Colleagues,
I am writing to invite expressions of interest in the role of Chair of the Scientific Program Committee for the 40th ICPE scheduled for August 24-28, 2024, in Berlin, Germany. The meeting, planned to occur over five days and featuring over 200 oral presentations, 1,000 posters, and numerous symposia/workshop and pre-conference skills courses, is expected to draw over 1,200 attendees from around the world.
In years past, this role was not conducted as an open invitation. However, in the interests of transparency and for the Society to recruit the best talent for this vitally important role, we are introducing an open call for applications. The evaluation of candidates will be conducted by the ISPE Executive Committee with input on the final selection by the ISPE Board of Directors.
Speaking as a past Scientific Program Chair myself, I can promise you that this prestigious role is both demanding and highly rewarding. It will require that you assume the role of Vice-Program Chair of the Scientific Program Committee starting in August, as you will need a year to observe the actions of the committee to appreciate how it functions and to understand the timelines and deliverables. You will be well supported in your role with a team of experienced ISPE members and staff. You can read more about the role in this brief role overview.
To be eligible to apply, you must be a current ISPE member for at least seven years and have attended three or more ICPEs in that time. Prior experience of managing an educational event is preferred. You do not need to be a current resident or citizen of Germany or speak German.
Candidates must apply directly; nominations of others for the position are not permitted. Applications for this role, which may only be submitted online, must be received by 11:59 PM US Eastern Time on Sunday, July 17, 2022. The deadline will not be extended, and applications of interest submitted via other means will not be accepted.
