Exhibition Overview: The Providence Art Club invites emerging artists currently enrolled as art majors and minors in colleges and universities throughout Rhode Island to exhibit their work in a special exhibition. This show will feature prizes, including the chance for a select artist to be the subject of a solo exhibition in the Club’s Mary Castelnovo Gallery in 2023. This is a unique opportunity for talented student artists to exhibit at one of the nation’s oldest arts organizations and to be recognized for their considerable talent and vision.
 
Eligibility:
  • Open to students who are current Sophomores or Juniors.
  • Must be majoring or minoring in Studio Art or related discipline at a Rhode Island college or university.
  • Work must be original, and properly prepared for installation with hanging apparatus supplied by the artist. If work utilizes non-traditional installation or hanging methods, please contact Gallery Manager Michael Rose to make sure it is acceptable.
 
How to Apply (Deadline February 1, 2022):
There is no entry fee to apply! Eligible students will apply by:
  1. Completing the Google Form application for this show.
  2. Emailing up to two hi-res JPEG images of artworks they would like considered along with an artist’s statement and resume to [email protected].
Applications will be accepted through February 1, 2022.

Notification:
PAC Gallery Manager Michael Rose will select up to 30 works for exhibition and accepted artists will be notified by Friday, February 4, 2022.

Participation Honorarium:
Each exhibiting artist will receive a $25 honorarium for participating.

Prizes:
Over $1,000 in Cash Prizes will be Awarded!

1st place - $1,000 in award money plus one year “junior” membership at the Providence Art Club and a solo show in the Club’s Mary Castelnovo Gallery in 2023. 1st Place Winner will also have the opportunity to receive mentoring from the Club’s Gallery Manager.
 
2nd place - $500 in award money and the opportunity to exhibit one work in the Club’s Club’s Class & Instructor Exhibition in January of 2023. 2nd Place winner will also have the opportunity to work with gallery staff to learn about the process of installing an exhibition.
 
3rd place - $250 in award money and the opportunity to exhibit one work in the Club’s Class & Instructor Exhibition in January of 2023. 3rd Place winner will also have the opportunity to work with gallery staff to learn about the process of installing an exhibition.
 
Size: Size limit for submissions is 30" x 30”, including the frame. Three-dimensional work may not exceed 30" in any direction, and may not weigh more than 100lbs. 
 
Delivery of Work: Sunday, February 6 – Thursday, February 10 from 12-4pm each day. Morning drop off times can be arranged by appointment.
 
Preparation, Sales, and Other Details:
All work must be available for purchase, with the Club taking a 40% commission on any sold works. All work must be completed within the last two years, and may not be the product of a class, but rather made in the artist’s own studio. Work not wired or properly prepared for installation will not be installed. If you have any questions about eligibility please email Michael Rose at [email protected].
 
Exhibition Dates:
February 13 – March 4, 2022. Gallery hours are typically Sundays – Fridays, 12-4pm daily. The galleries are typically closed Saturdays.
 
Removal of Work:
March 7 – March 11, 2022, 12-4pm each day
Please note: The Club has limited artwork storage and artists must pick up their submissions by Friday, March 11. We cannot store artwork from previous shows indefinitely.
 
Insurance: The Art Club carries a blanket policy covering fire and theft, but not breakage. The insurance value is considered 2/3 of the sale price, but no entry is insured for more than $250.
