Providence Art Club BIG PICTURES SHOW 2026
Exhibition Overview
Exhibiting Artist Members are invited to submit one artwork to the BIG PICTURES SHOW 2026 opening in Maxwell Mays Gallery August 23. Due to the limited exhibition space and large scale of the artworks, this show will be limited to 30 artists and will be first come first serve. Please review the full call for entry before signing up.
Works in all media are welcome. Works must be a minimum of 30" in any direction and a maximum of 72” in any direction and must be available for purchase, with the Club taking a 25% commission. Work must be recent and not previously shown in a members’ exhibition. All submissions must be original and may not utilize published photographs or AI programs in their creation. Giclee prints or other reproductions of original artworks are not acceptable.
Artists must complete our special online entry form and must receive confirmation of acceptance from the gallery manager before participating. After 30 entries are received, other entrants will be added to a waitlist. Works are due to the gallery by August 20.

Important Details:
- Eligibility: Open to Exhibiting Artist Members only, one submission per artist. Spaces limited to 30 exhibitors.
- All media welcome!
- Size: Works must be a minimum of 30” in any direction and may be a maximum of 72” in any direction. Watercolors and printmakers may submit works that utilize a full sheet. Works may not weigh more than 100lbs.

Entry: To participate artists must complete our short online entry form and receive confirmation of acceptance before taking part. Spaces are limited.
- Reception Fee: Each exhibitor will be charged $15 to defray the cost of their reception.
- Drop Off Dates: August 17-20, 12 – 3pm each day.
- Exhibition Dates: August 23 – September 10
- Opening Reception: Sunday, August 23, 2-4pm

Pick Up Dates: September 14 – 18, 12-4pm each day. Works not picked up by the 18th will be charged a daily storage fee.
Preparation:
Artworks must be properly prepared for installation. Works on paper must be framed and under glass. Works on canvas should be framed or must be displayed on gallery wrapped canvas. Works must be wired securely with D-Rings. If you feel a different hanging apparatus is more appropriate for your work, you must have it approved in writing by the gallery manager. Paintings that are wet to the touch will not be accepted. All works must be clearly labeled with name and title on the back at time of delivery.
Delivery of Work:
Drop off is August 17 – 20, 12-3pm each day. Thursday, August 20 is the absolute last day to deliver. Late works will not be accepted or installed. Works must be checked in with a member of the gallery staff. Do not leave your work unattended at the Club. All artists must fill out the online entry form and receive confirmation from the gallery manager before participating. Artworks must be labeled on the back of their work with their name and the title in advance of dropping off. Unlabeled work will be sent home. Optional Publicity Image Submission DUE ASAP:
If you would like to have a photo of your work considered for publicity, please email a JPEG image sized no larger than 25MB to Michael ASAP. JPEGs should be larger than 856pixels on the short side. Image files should be clearly labeled with artist name and title. The earlier your image is received the more likely it will be used. Art Club staff are not available to photograph artwork. Artists are not required to do this.
Reception Fee:
Participating artists will be charged $15 to defray the cost of the opening receptions.
NO Packing Material:
Please do not deliver wrapped artworks. We have very limited storage and will dispose of any packing materials left on site. If a work is particularly fragile and needs to remain packed until installation, please inform the gallery manager and he will accommodate you.
Removal of Work:
September 14 - 18, weekdays 12-4pm. Works left on site after September 18 will become subject to a storage fee of $5 per day, charged to your PAC account. Due to the nature of this show we cannot store works and all late pick ups will result in a daily charge.
Insurance:
The Art Club carries a blanket policy covering fire and theft, but not breakage. The insurance value is considered 2/3 of the sale price, but no entry is insured for more than $250. We strongly encourage artists to provide their own insurance.
The Art Club reserves the right to reject works that are improperly prepared or that otherwise do not meet our standards at the discretion of the gallery manager.
