  • Submit Candidate Biography or Resume detailing:
    • Position you are seeking
    • Your qualifications for the position
    • Professional, community, AMTA, and life involvement pertinent to the position
    • Reasons for why you want to run for the position
  • Be a professional member in good standing
  • Sign and submit the Chapter Volunteer Code of Conduct
  • Have computer/telephone access for chapter business
  • Attend the Annual Meeting on April 22, 2018
  • If elected, attend the board member training on May 20, 2018
Elections will be held Online in April
V oting results will be announced at the Annual Meeting

Please keep in mind that all candidates must attend the Annual Meeting at noon on April 22nd in Frederick Maryland. If you are elected you must also attend the Board Member Training on May 20th in Annapolis, Maryland. We cannot make exceptions.

* Delegate Robin Anderson was elected to the Massage Therapy Foundation Board of Directors, which meant she had to resign her position with AMTA Maryland. This has left a one year term open for Delegate.  
The American Massage Therapy Association ( AMTA) is the largest non-profit, professional association serving massage therapists, massage students and massage schools.





AMTA provides our members with the strongest benefits in the profession. We promote massage to the public, the health care community and other important groups. We work for fair licensing of massage in all states, and actively support research. Your voice is heard in AMTA as we are governed by massage therapists. And, we provide a wealth of local and national networking and continuing education opportunities.

Course Descriptions:

Sports Massage: 8.5 hours
Techniques for Sports Massage Therapists Workshop
Receive hands-on instruction, including a shoulder injury case study and tips to help you succeed in this specialty. With a focus on utilizing critical thinking in client assessment, this workshop will help you learn techniques, contraindications, session planning and other valuable information to take your sports massage career to the next level.
Attendees will need to wear comfortable clothes and bring a massage table.
This class is part of the NCBTMB Specialty Sports Certificate. Read more below.

sportsAMTA/NCBTMB Specialty Certificate in Sports Massage

AMTA Maryland is pleased to offer the required Hands-On portion of this extensive training at our Annual Conference in April.


A specialty certificate symbolizes advanced education and training in a particular massage approach or for working with a specific population. The AMTA/NCBTMB Sports Massage Specialty Certificate Program provides a solid foundational overview on the science of sports massage and settings for sports massage through online classes and is enhanced by a workshop featuring techniques and applications. The program culminates in the NCBTMB Sports Massage Specialty Certificate exam.

sports2018 Online Election Process

We are working with an outside vendor, Simply Voting, to conduct the online elections.  Upon receipt, candidate resumes will be reviewed for eligibility and will be submitted along with a provided photo or video to the vendor.  The vendor will create a ballot and post candidate information. As soon as voting opens, you will be notified by email.
