Nominating Committee Seeks Candidates for GCA

Board of Directors

The Glenmore Community Association will hold elections for three open Board positions at our Annual Meeting of the Members on February 29, 2024.

 

The Nominating Committee is accepting nominations from community members until November 15th. The Committee will review nominations, meet with nominees, and present its final slate of candidates at the December 7th meeting of the GCA Board.

 

As chairman of the Nominating Committee, I want to encourage you to consider submitting your name as a candidate for the GCA Board of Directors. Your service to the Glenmore community is vital. Please email your CV or brief bio to:

If you wish to nominate someone, please be sure to confirm their

interest and willingness to serve before submitting their name.


To help guide you in your decision to serve, the Nominating Committee invites you to attend an informal, informational meeting at 7:00 pm on Thursday, October 26 in the Pinnacle Room at the Club at Glenmore. You will be able discuss the roles and responsibilities of GCA board members with the Nominating Committee, as well as past and present Board members.

 

The information below is provided to further help you identify potential nominees.  


Requirements for serving on the Board.

 

  1. Own property in Glenmore. 
  2. Reside in Glenmore.
  3. A member in good standing: current in the payment of member assessments 
  4. Not in litigation with the Glenmore Community Association
  5. Not a family member of another Board member
  6. Commitment to making Glenmore a premier living experience by:

• Maintaining the Common Areas/Elements of the Community  

• Ensuring Compliance with Governing Documents

        • Conducting the Financial Business of the Association.

Estimated Time Commitment: 15 hours per month.

 

The Board regularly meets on the 3rd Thursday of the month (and occasionally on the 1stThursday of the month). Board members also serve on at least one committee. The GCA Board has moved forward with its plan to focus on governance and policy while delegating to Associa the management of day-to-day operations. Freeing board members to serve in a decision-making capacity e.g., resolving issues and disputes, approving contracted services, approving operating and reserve budgets, developing strategic plans and the like.

 

Desired Qualifications and Experience.

 

1.    Management skills, familiarity with basic administration, people management, budgeting and finances.

2.    Experience on a Board or committee of a community association

3.    Excellent Communication Skills (oral and written) 

4.    A bachelor’s degree or higher and willingness to learn.  Board members often need to understand and interpret complex legal and financial materials.

5.    Generally familiar with the GCA’s governing documents. These can be found on GCA website at www.glenmore-community.org/regs-and-legal
