The Maine Space Corporation, the Maine Space Grant Consortium and their partners, are pleased to announce the second annual Maine Space Conference to be held on October 23-25, 2024 at the Holiday Inn by the Bay in downtown Portland, Maine. This is an opportunity for the space community at large to learn about and engage with Maine's growing space economy. We will explore how to leverage manufacturing and workforce capabilities in Maine and across the Northeast; how to take advantage of the vertically integrated space industry we are building in Maine, from innovative R&D and manufacturing upstream, to midstream launch and ground station operations, to downstream space data and analytics services and products.

The 2024 Maine Space Conference: Building Relationships

At the second annual Maine Space Conference, we will explore opportunities for industry stakeholders to engage with the Maine space ecosystem and the ways in which Maine Space Corporation is facilitating and supporting industry growth across the value chain. We will explore ways to engage and deepen relationships with industry partners, government, educators, and the investment community from inside and outside of Maine.

Sessions will focus on:

Track 1 - Investment/Finance

Track 2 - Sustainability/Infrastructure

Track 3 - Education & Workforce Development

Track 4 - Research & Data

Track 5 - National Security

Track 6 - Maine’s Aerospace Industry

One of Our Featured Keynote Speakers

We are pleased to announce that Gregory G. Richardson will be one of our featured Keynote Speakers. Mr. Richardson leads the Consortium for Space Mobility and ISAM Capabilities (COSMIC) as the executive director of the consortium and primary interface to NASA. He is also a senior project leader in the Human Exploration and Spaceflight Division at The Aerospace Corporation, the only federally funded research and development center (FFRDC) committed exclusively to the space enterprise. He has experience in space systems design, systems engineering, and mission execution for innovative space systems.

COSMIC is a nationwide coalition established under the direction of NASA and administered by the Aerospace Corporation to make In-space Servicing, Assembly, and Manufacturing (ISAM) a routine part of space architectures and mission lifecycles to achieve the benefits described in the White House National Science and Technology Council’s ISAM National Strategy (Apr 2022). These benefits include (a) promoting a sustainable space environment, (b) improve the scientific output of in-space spacecraft and instruments, and (c) create robust, sustainable, and enduring in-space infrastructure. Fostering an ecosystem that leverages ISAM capabilities can expand the performance, availability, resilience, and lifetime of space systems compared to the status quo. Space mobility, logistics, and reusability are enabled by ISAM capabilities. Cost-effective ISAM capabilities could bring economic benefits – remote sensing, climate science, human exploration – if available and effectively utilized through the coordination of relevant stakeholders.

Mr Richardson will share his thoughts on how a partnership between COSMIC and Maine's businesses and higher education can be mutually beneficial.
